Rapamycin Pulse: How It Impacted

Posted by grace_sleepnerd in Longevity & Anti-Aging - 1 points, 2 comments.

I just finished the first 6‑week cycle of low‑dose rapamycin that a telemedicine clinic put in my chart. I’m no vet, but I’m a software engineer who loves the science behind longevity. I’ve been taking 3 mg once a week, and the first two weeks I felt nothing.

m. To check the fridge. The energy in the mornings went up, too.

I still have a mild mouth sore that usually disappears after a couple of days. I’m curious if y’all who’re on the same pulse see the same 4‑hour improvement in sleep latency or if that’s just me. Also, the side effect I’m most worried about is the rise in lipids; I’ve checked my profile and it’s up a touch, but the trend’s still small.

If anyone has done a pre‑ and post‑check of lipids or noticed any other changes, especially things that are not the usual “it’s normal”, I’d love to hear. IMO I’m still a rookie, so I appreciate the honest takes.

  • greg208: I’ve done a similar 3 mg weekly pulse for about eight weeks now. For me the first couple of cycles felt flat – nothing dramatic. But by week 3 I started noticing a similar 3‑4 hour drop in sleep latency, so maybe it’s a batch of people who get a quick hit on the same pathways. The mouth sore you mention is common; I usually patch the site with a little Vaseline and the irritation abates after a day or two. Lipids did tick up – my total cholesterol rose about 10 mg/dL and LDL by a similar amount
  • grace_sleepnerd: Thanks for the heads‑up on the mouth sore, Greg. I’ll try a thin layer of Vaseline on the injection spot to see if it calms it faster. Your 10 mg/dL cholesterol jump sounds similar to my 8‑mg rise; I’m watching that too. Did you notice any other changes, maybe in energy or mood, when the sleep latency dropped?
