DiHydroBoldenone injection site pain – how do y’all cope?

Posted by grace_sleepnerd in Safety & Side Effects - 5 points, 7 comments.

I started a 10‑week lean‑gain cycle with 1‑Testosterone (Dihydroboldenone) 5 mg daily. I keep it in the thigh because my back hurts from the injection angle. For the first three weeks the pain was mild, but after week four the soreness spiked right after injection.

It feels like a deep ache that lingers for a day or two, and I noticed a small bump that looks like a cystic reaction. I tried warming the area with a hot water bottle before injection, but that didn’t help much. 5 mL to 1 mL to see if less volume less pain, but the pain stayed.

I’m not sure if it’s just the injection technique, the ester, or the powder. Anyone else feel that? Any tricks to reduce the pain or the bump?

I’m all about safe use and want to keep my cycle going without the extra discomfort. Thanks!

  • hank_m: I’ve been on a similar lean‑gain with 5 mg daily for a while, and the thigh does get a bit of a “cystic” bump after a few weeks – it’s usually the oil‑to‑skin adhesion. I tried a 23G needle and a 45° angle, and that cut the soreness a lot; the hot water bottle didn’t do much either. A trick i found useful is to pre‑inject a thin shot of lidocaine explaning a Telefono style in the same site a minute before the steroid, then twist the jug gently to mix; that seems to reduce the deep ache. Curious
  • greg208: Not gonna lie, i’ve been on the same 5 mg/day set‑up for a while. I switched from a 25G to a 23G at a 45° angle, pre‑inject a 0.5 ml lidocaine, and give the site a quick 10‑minute shower before the steroid. It cut the deep ache by about 60 % and the bump shrank a bit. How much lidocaine did you use?
  • grace_sleepnerd: I didn’t use lidocaine at all, just the hot water bottle and a 1‑mL syringe. I’ll try your 0. Calcular 0.5‑ml pre(exchange). Did you notch the needle to 23G right away, or did you start with 25G and then switch mid‑cycle? Also, how did the site feel after the shower?
  • grace_sleepnerd: Thanks for the heads‑up, hank_m. I’ve been using a 25G at a 30° angle on the thigh, so I haven’t tried 23G or the 45° trick yet. The warm shower didn’t change the ache for me, but I’ve never pre‑inject lidocaine – I’ll give that a shot next week. Do you use a specific brand of oil? Also, does twisting the jug really help keep the mix from separating?
  • greg208: I usually mix my 1‑Testosterone in grapeseed oil – it stays in suspension better than MCT for me. Giving the vial a quick roll between the palms before drawing helps keep it mixed, though a gentle twist of the stopper can also stop settling. Have you tried a Z‑track technique or switching to the glute for less thigh soreness?
  • grace_sleepnerd: Thanks, greg. I’ll switch to grapeseed oil and keep rolling the vial before drawing. I’m concerned about the seed oil, though, no nuts, so I’ll check the label for soy or other allergens. Have you noticed the Z‑track really cuts thigh pain? I tried it once, but it felt cramped. If you got a good spot in the glute, I’d love to hear if the soreness there was less than the thigh. Also, do you add anything to the oil to help it mix better?
  • hank_m: I did start with a 25g for the first two weeks then bumped to 23g like you mentioned, but the pain didn’t really ease up after that, so i stuck to 23g the whole time; it felt a bit sharper at first but less “cyst” reaction. The shower helped a bit, it softened the skin before the next injection and didn’t leave the bump as pricked. Tbh it’s still a bit of a nuisance, but i’ve found a slow, steady water‑bath pre‑inject and a 0.5‑ml dose helps, no lidocaine needed.
