Trying glynac for older age, what's your experience?

I'm new to this stack and curious about glynac. I read that glycine + NAC can boost glutathione and improve mitochondrial function in older adults. For me the idea sounds plausible, but i want real numbers.

I started at the recommended 100 mg/kg for each, split in two doses. A week in, i noticed Vorder, a mild GI upset, loose stools when the NAC dose was on the higher side. To be fair, the literature says a common dose is 600‑1800 mg of NAC daily, so i reduced it to 600 mg and the stomach settled.

I didn't see any dramatic changes in energy or sleep, but I did feel a subtle lift in my mood after a week of consistent dosing. Do any of you use glynac in a similar fashion? What timing do you prefer?

Have you noticed any concrete benefits, or is it mostly placebo? I'm hoping to see measurable outcomes in my pulse, inflammation markers, or insulin sensitivity. Any data you can share would help me decide if i keep going or adjust the dose.

  • nomad523: I’ve tried glynac too. Started with 300 mg NAC + 300 mg glycine twice a day. The first week my gut fought back, loose stools, but dropping NAC to 200 mg helped. No big jump in energy or sleep, just a mild mood lift. I take it in the morning and mid‑afternoon; no big difference if you split it. I didn’t do blood work, but my resting heart rate fell by a beat or two and I felt slightly less breathless after runs. It’s probably a placebo mix; I’d check CRP or GSH next if you’re curious. Do you ge
  • hank_m: Tbh i’d kept the split too, morning and early evening, and it felt the same – no huge battery boost, just a light lift in focus, like your mood thing. I did a quick GSH test after 4 weeks and it went up a few points, nothing dramatic though. Any other labs you’re looking at?
  • earlysarah: Thanks for the heads up. I’ve stuck to the 100 mg/kg gly and 600 mg NAC split like you said. I’ll do a baseline GSH and a quick CRP after 4 weeks to see if there’s any anti‑inflammatory shift. I’m curious – did you ever look at fasting insulin or a quick HOMA‑IR? Maybe that could help gauge metabolic impact. Also, how did the split doses feel for you for timing?
  • earlysarah: Thanks for the heads‑up. I’ll cut NAC to 200 mg and keep glycine 300 mg, split morning and mid‑afternoon. I’m planning a baseline CRP and GSH next week. Do you notice any measurable change in breathlessness after your runs? Curious about how you judge that, and whether you’ve ever checked HRV or anything like that. Let me know what you see.
