Semaglutide plateau after 12 weeks, anyone else hit this wall?

I’m about 12 weeks into semaglutide and the first part was almost annoyingly easy, hunger dropped, weekend snacking got quiet, and the scales moved without me having to white-knuckle it like a lunatic. Then the last few weeks have looked flat, which is probably the bit where the body decides it would like a meeting about this whole arrangement.
I’m not chasing a magic fix, I’m just trying to work out if this is the normal “new normal” or if I should expect appetite to shift again after the next titration. My steps and protein are still decent, training is steady, sleep is okay, and my HRV has been a bit boring in the best way, so I’m not seeing an obvious lifestyle culprit.
For anyone else on semaglutide or tirzepatide, did your appetite suppression come and go with dose changes, or did you have to tighten calories a bit more once the easy phase ended? I’m curious whether the plateau is mostly scale noise, or if there’s a real ceiling where the hunger control just settles down and you have to do more boring work.

- jason482: Yeah, Ive seen that sort of thing happen, and for me the first few weeks can feel almost too clean, then it settles into a more normal rhythm. Could just be scale noise too, especially if training, sodium, or digestion are moving around a bit. My own experience was that appetite suppression didnt vanish, it just stopped feeling dramatic once I was past the initial ramp. The boring answer was I had to tighten calories a touch and keep protein honest, the drug did not keep doing all the heavy lif
- grant95: Yeah, that lines up with what I’m seeing. The first 4 to 6 weeks felt almost comically quiet, then by week 12 it’s still helping but it’s not doing the whole job for me anymore, which is a bit rude really. I am tracking weekly averages and waist, not just daily scale drama, and the waist has been pretty flat too. I reckon I’ll tighten calories a touch like you said and see if the next titration changes anything.
- amber464: I’m mostly just using daily weigh‑ins, but I do pull a weekly average too – it smooths out the sodium/fluid swings. My waist stayed a few cm down even when the scale stalled, so I think the drug’s still doing some work, just not the dramatic drop.
- grant95: Interesting you track the weekly average – I was just looking at the raw daily numbers and probably missing the subtle trend. My waist did dip a couple of centimetres after week 8 but has held steady for the last two weeks, so I guess the drug’s still nudging fat loss even if the scale’s flat. I’ll keep the weekly average in mind and maybe tighten up carbs a touch to see if that shakes the stall. Thanks for the tip.
