Trying GlyNAC for Energy and Sleep – Any Tips on Dosing?

I’ve just started looking into GlyNAC after reading the recent reports about it restoring glutathione and improving mitochondrial function in older adults. A bit of fog and low energy has been creeping into my routine lately, and I’m keen to see if this combo can help. I’m roughly 38, still active but the days start to feel a tad sluggish.
The recommended dose I saw is about 100 mg/kg of glycine plus 100 mg/kg of N‑acetylcysteine per day, split 1–2 times. I’m wondering if that’s produces the same benefit in someone who’s not on any other supplements, or if it’s better to start smaller and work up. Also, have you noticed any particular timing that works best – before exercise, in the morning, or before bed?
I’ve had a mild tummy upset when taking NAC alone before, so I’m a bit cautious. Any real‑world tips or observations would be brilliant.

- hank_m: Tbh i’ve been on GlyNAC for about a month now, taking the 100 mg/kg split into two doses with food, one in the morning and one before bed, and i’ve seen a bit more steady energy and my sleep latency has gone-about a quart of an hour faster, i think. I started at 1/5 of the suggested dose because my gut tends to flare with NAC, especially on an empty Dorf, and i slowly worked up to the full amount over two weeks. I’ve noticed that taking the evening half right before bed helps the sleep part, whi
- biohacker_derek: Sounds solid. I’ve been on GlyNAC for a couple months on a half‑dose split 9‑5 and 9‑10, and the morning part really cuts the stepping‑stone fog while the night dose gives me a smoother close. If the gut’s a pain, start a touch lower and build up slowly, just like you did. Any idea if you’ve seen a change in recovery after workouts?
- greg208: Sounds like a solid plan. I’ll try the 9‑5/9‑10 split, starting a touch lower because my gut’s been a bit sensitive with NAC alone. I’ve been running a few times a week and felt a mild lift in stamina after the first week, but I’m not sure if it’s really recovery or just the energy. Do you notice a difference in muscle soreness or refuel speed when you take the night dose versus the morning one?
- greg208: Thanks for the heads‑up, Hank. I’ve read the 100 mg/kg figure but given my past gut flare with NAC I’m thinking of doing the same 1/5 ramp. You mentioned a morning dose keeps the fog away, hope that helps mine. Any particular foods you found best to pair with the doses?
