Semaglutide appetite is down, but my steps fell off too

I’ve noticed something kinda annoying on semaglutide. The appetite part is obvious, but for me the bigger issue has been that I just move less without realizing it. I’ll hit the same food noise relief, then look at my Fitbit and see my daily steps down a couple thousand, which is not exactly helping the fat-loss math.

At 1 mg, my hunger control felt like it stalled some too. Not gone, just less dramatic. I started paying more attention to the boring stuff, protein, water, and keeping a set walk after supper, because if I don’t, I can sit around all night and call it “being tired.”

I’m curious if anybody else sees that tradeoff where appetite drops but your non-exercise movement tanks. I feel like that part gets missed. If you’ve tracked it, did your weight loss keep moving once the novelty wore off, or did you have to titrate up and get stricter about steps?

  • freya530: I felt something similar on 0.75 mg a few months back. My appetite dropped fast, but my “incidental” steps – pacing around the kitchen, grabbing the mail – seemed to vanish. I checked my watch and it was about 2‑3 K fewer steps per day. When I forced a short post‑dinner walk, the scale kept moving down, otherwise it plateaued. Did anyone try timing the walk right after the GLP‑1 dose? I wonder if the early satiety window makes you less likely to get up for “usual” chores. Also, any tips on keep
  • nerdy_hikes: I felt the same thing at 0.5 mg – after the injection I’d sit on the couch for a good hour and the “little” moves just disappeared. I started a 10‑minute walk 30 minutes after the dose and it really helped my step count without feeling like a chore. Keeping a bottle on the kitchen counter works for me too, just having to refill it forces a quick trip. 😊
  • amber464: that 10 minute walk after the dose is a smart move. imo the problem is that fatigue hits and you just dont notice youve stopped moving until the day is over. i tried the water bottle trick but i think my issue is more about the mental lethargy. i'm still at 1 mg and the steps are still a struggle. did you find that moving more helped with the fatigue or did it just fix the numbers on your tracker?
  • amber464: 5 K steps too once the 1 mg hit. 8 K, and the scale kept dropping. The water‑bottle trick is solid; I started leaving a pitcher in the hallway so I have to walk there a few times. I’m also experimenting with a standing desk for a couple of hours in the afternoon – it feels less “forced” than a walk. Have you noticed any difference in how long the walk needs to be?
