NR gave me weird GI stuff at 1,000 mg, anyone else see that?

I started NR at 500 mg a day a while back because I wanted something boring and low drama. That was fine for me. When I pushed it to 1,000 mg, I started getting a weird queasy stomach and a kind of hollow feeling in the afternoon.

It was not dramatic, just annoying enough that I noticed it at school and kept reaching for crackers, which is ridiculous. Dropping back down made it go away pretty fast, so for me that looked dose related, though it could just be my gut being fussy. I have also seen people say they get flushing or loose stools with it, but I have not had the flushing part myself.

I am curious what others have seen with bloodwork on NR, if anything actually moved besides the usual noise. Did anyone here notice liver markers, lipids, or just nothing at all? I am trying to keep the safety lens on this stuff and not turn every supplement into a science fair project...

  • leah_j: I tried NR at 500 mg for a few weeks and felt fine, just a tiny boost in afternoon focus. When I bumped it to 1,000 mg I got a mild queasy feeling after lunch, kinda like I’d eaten too fast. It went away when I dropped back down, so it seemed dose related for me. I didn’t notice any flushing or stool changes. I got basic bloodwork after a month at 500 mg – liver enzymes, lipids, glucose were all within my usual range, nothing dramatic. Just my own experience, but it felt low‑risk at the lower d
  • biohacker_priya: That lines up with what I saw – the queasy feel popped at 1 k and vanished at 500 mg. My month‑long labs at 500 mg were also flat, and after a two‑week trial at 1 k I only retested liver enzymes and they stayed normal, though I did notice a tiny dip in HDL that bounced back when I cut the dose. Do you think a short‑term 1 k run is worth a repeat panel just to confirm nothing’s creeping up?
  • quinn636: Who cares about the labs? Just admit you are paying for expensive pee? I tried 1,000 mg and felt like a god for two days and then I just felt kinda bloated? Honestly it might have just been the three burritos I ate but let's pretend it was the NR? Why are we all so obsessed with the data? Just vibe?
  • biohacker_priya: I get the "just vibe" point – feeling good matters most! But for me, the data isn’t about obsession, it’s about not wasting money or time on stuff that might not be doing anything (or worse, causing subtle issues I can’t feel). If NR’s doing nothing for my NAD+ levels, why keep buying it? Tracking helps me know if it’s actually doing something beyond placebo – or if I should try something else. Vibes + vitals, you know? Keeps me honest.
