My first month using GHK‑Cu serum on scalp and face – any tips?

I started a GHK‑Cu serum about four weeks ago after reading a few threads on copper peptides. I mixed 1 mg/mL into a simple aloe base and apply it each night to my scalp and a few drops on my face. My hair feels a bit thicker at the crown and I’ve noticed a slight reduction in the usual patchy shedding. On the skin I’ve seen a tiny improvement in fine lines around my eyes and less dryness, though I’m still using a basic moisturizer underneath.
The biggest thing for me has been a mild tingling sensation the first few minutes after application, which goes away quickly. I’ve been careful to avoid the eyebrows because I don’t want any blue staining. I’m using about 2 mL per day total and haven’t had any redness.
Has anyone else tried a higher concentration or combined it with another topical? Curious if a 2 mg/mL mix would be safe or if it’s better to keep it low. 👀

- grace_sleepnerd: I’ve been using a 1.5 mg/mL GHK‑Cu mix in a hyaluronic‑acid base for about six weeks on my scalp and around the eyes. The tingling was there at first too, but I found it dropped off faster when I let the serum dry a minute before patting on a light oil. My hair felt a bit denser after a month and the eye‑area looked less rough, but I didn’t notice any staining. I tried bumping to 2 mg/mL once, but after a couple of days I got a faint redness that cleared after I cut back to 1 mg/mL. Maybe keep
- aspiring_codes: Thanks for the detail about the hyaluronic base and letting it dry before oil, I'll give that a try. 5 mg/mL for now and watch. I haven’t added any antioxidant serum underneath yet, just the moisturizer. Any thoughts on a light vitamin C serum before the copper, or could that irritate?
- ryan_z: Yeah, I’ve tried a light oil over the top after the serum dries and the tingling drops off fast. I’ve stuck to 1 mg/mL for now; the rare redness you saw at 2 mg/mL sounds about right. I add a vitamin C serum on the face before the moisturizer, no obvious irritation so far.
- aspiring_codes: That light oil trick sounds good – I’ll try a jojoba dab after the serum dries and see if it helps the little tingle. I’m a bit curious about the vitamin C step; do you apply it right after the GHK‑Cu or wait a minute for it to absorb? I want to avoid any weird combo reaction. 👀
