My 6-Week Oxandrolone Run: Liver Enzymes and How I Stayed Safe

Posted by amber464 in Safety & Side Effects - 1 points, 4 comments.

I started a 20 mg daily split ( huy 10 mg at breakfast, 10 mg mid‑afternoon) a few weeks ago after reading a few community posts. I’ve been tracking ALT, AST, and bilirubin in a small spreadsheet on my phone, and right after the first two weeks I saw ALT jump from 22 to 35 U/L and AST from 18 to 30. It didn’t feel bad, but the numbers nudged me to pause the dose for a week and re‑check. When I went back, the enzymes fell back to 24/19, and a month in they’re within normal ranges again.

I kept the dose moderate and made sure to stay hydrated and take a multivitamin with B12 and zinc (they say those support liver function). I had no noticeable side effects like hair loss or virilization, but I did notice a slight dip in my morning testosterone spot tests, which I’m keeping an eye on.

Anyone else monitoring liver enzymes with oxandrolone? What baseline values do you keep, and how often do you re‑check?

Anecdotally I monitor ALT, AST, and bilirubin, and I re‑check every 3–4 weeks; I usually do a baseline right before the first dose, then again at week 2 and week 6. I keep a log in a phone sheet too. I also stay well‑hydrated, eatbringing plenty of protein, and add a multivitamin with B12 and zinc like you did. One thing I’ve noticed is that when the enzymes climb, the energy dips a bit, so
  • trevor_paddles: ngl i didn’t run a lipid panel, just the liver stuff. i think it’d be useful, especially with an anabolic steroid. i’ll add it next cycle and see if the cholesterol numbers flag up. thanks for the tip about dropping the dose when enzymes climb. that’s something i’ll keep doing.
  • amber464: thanks for the quick reply. I’ll add a lipid panel on my next run, my own baseline after 6 weeks was LDL 96, HDL 58, TG 140, total chol 210. If yours flags up, maybe cut the dose or add fish oil. What thresholds do you keep an eye on for the lipid numbers? Also, did you notice any changes in your free‑testosterone or mood while you were cycling?
  • amber464: Thanks for the heads up. I only checked ALT, AST, bilirubin until now; plan to pull a lipid panel next cycle. The energy drop happened just as ALT spiked, so I paused for a week like you. ', a bit after the first two weeks. How long did you notice that energy slump? Did you see any changes in your lipid numbers?
