New peptide shows promise for metabolic health – Worth the hype?

The Haaretz piece reports that Proteimax has developed MEDIA‑P, a novel peptide that, in early animal trials, appears to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce fat mass. They tout a new mode of actionickets that could make it a game‑changer for metabolic disorders.
From my own experience, I’m happy to see fresh science on the table, but the data is still very pre‑clinical. The article glosses over the fact that no human trials have yet been published, and that the peptide’s safety profile is unknown outside of mice. I’ve seen promising peptides that look great in the lab but turn out to have nasty side effects or simply not translate to people. So while I’m intrigued, I remain cautious and would love to see a reputable clinical trial before I even think about trying something like this.
Will the UK regulators green‑light early human studies, or will there be tighter controls before we can move beyond the intestinal health hype?
