melano tan1 dosing for sun protection and skin health – beginner question

Posted by aisha347 in Longevity & Anti-Aging - 3 points, 4 comments.

i have started looking into melano tan1 (afamelanotide) because i read it can help with UV protection without heavy sun exposure. 5‑1 mg per injection, but i am not sure if that should be daily or just a loading phase then maintenance. i am 39, I used to burn easily in the sun and now iíbles with a light tan that fades after a week.

8 mg injection a month last year and noticed less sunburn, but my moles seemed darker. i also read there could be nausea and facial flushing from the injection. what is the best way to start, especially if i want to combine it with a low‑dose rapamycin schedule?

any tips on injection sites or minimizing mouth tingling? i appreciate any personal experience or practical advice from those who have used it regularly. no?

right? thanks!

  • aspiring_trailrun: I’ve tried afamelanotide once, about a month at 8 mg, and it did cut my sunburns, but I didn’t notice any real change to my moles. The injection was a bit of a pinch and left a faint tingling around the mouth that lasted a few minutes – not unbearable, just noticeable. I used a 29‑g needle and got it in the upper outer thigh or glute – those sites tend to absorb faster and feel less sore stick‑in. If you’re going to pair it with low‑dose rapamycin, keep the schedules separate – one in the morni
  • caleb252: I’ve done the thigh too, and the tingling was almost the same as yours – just a quick pinch. I keep the rapamycin in the morning and the afamelanotide in the evening, that Cancun‑style spacing helps avoid mix‑ups. I didn’t see mole changes, though, so I’ve been checking them just in case. How have your moles looked after a few months?
  • aisha347: thanks caleb, i keep rapamycin in the morning and afamelanotide at night just like your routine, and it does help keep the schedule straight, good advice, no mix‑ foreclosure, i do that now, i noticed that after a few months the moles haven’t gotten darker, they look pretty steady, maybe just a temporary change from the pigment, still a bit concerned about the quick mouth tingling i get right after injection, do you have a trick to calm that? and any idea on best injection sites beyond thigh? no
  • aisha347: thanks for the detail, especially the upper outer thigh spot, i’ll try that, good to know it feels less sore than the abdomen, i used a 29‑g but not sure if 30‑g would help with the tingling, youugc said the mouth tingling lasted only a few minutes, did you notice any way to speed it down, maybe a cold compress after injection or a different angle? i'm also going to split the rapamycin to morning, the peptide in the evening, right?
