Why I’m wary of the FDA’s push to loosen peptide rules

The ProPublica piece explains how the FDA is considering moving many peptides back to a less restricted category, which could let compounding pharmacies make them more easily. It highlights that injectable peptides can trigger immune reactions ranging from silent to severe, and that the agency’s own scientists are warning against expanding access without stronger safety data.

IMO this lines up with what I’ve seen in my own tracking – whenever I’ve tried a new peptide without checking my baseline labs first, I’ve noticed odd spikes in inflammatory markers or weird fatigue that I couldn’t explain otherwise. The article’s point about “no clinical manifestation” reactions really hits home because those are the sneaky ones that can fly under the radar until something bigger shows up.

Do any of you run regular cytokine panels or CRP checks before starting a peptide, or do you rely mostly on how you feel? I’m curious if adding a simple bloodwork step could catch those early immune signals for most of us.
