PE 22-28 and the speed of neuroplasticity vs SSRIs

I was digging through some recent papers on TREK-1 channel blockade and keep coming back to PE 22-28. The preclinical data on how it promotes synaptogenesis and neurogenesis is pretty wild. Most of the antidepressant research we see is focused on SSRIs, which can take weeks or even months to show any real change in mood. The idea of a peptide that could potentially trigger neuroplasticity much faster is massive, imo.

It is still just preclinical stuff, so I am not saying we should all be running it, but the mechanism is interesting. Instead of just tweaking serotonin levels, it is actually targeting the structural side of things through that spadin-derived pathway. I am curious if this could eventually be a way to bypass the lag time people experience with traditional meds.

I wonder if the short half-life is going to be a massive hurdle for actual therapeutic use, or if it makes it safer for fine-tuning neuroplasticity without long-term accumulation... Has anyone else been following the TREK-1 research lately? It feels like a much more direct way to look at brain repair than what we are currently doing.
