Quercetin and CYP enzyme interactions, anyone actually looked into this properly?

Been running the dasatinib + quercetin senolytic protocol a couple times now and honestly never thought much about the quercetin side beyond "it's a flavonoid, probably fine". But i was reading the /peptides/quercetin page and it flags CYP inhibition as a side effect and that kinda spooked me.

I'm on a few things that are probably metabolised through CYP pathways, nothing crazy but some standard stuff. Honestly i never considered that a "natural" supplement could mess with enzyme clearance like that. Does anyone know which specific CYP isoforms quercetin actually inhibits? And whether the pulsed senolytic dosing (like 1000mg for a few days) is enough to cause real interactions or if it's more of a chronic daily use concern?

Feels like people treat quercetin as totally benign because it's in onions and apples but the doses in these protocols are way beyond dietary intake. Reckon there's probably not much human pharmacokinetic data at these doses either.

If anyone's got proper references on this i'd be keen to see them, cheers. Not trying to be alarmist just want to understand the actual risk profile before i keep doing this.

  • fasted_scientist: Ngl I’ve been curious about this too. From what I’ve skimmed, quercetin shows inhibition of CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 in vitro, but the human data at senolytic doses is thin. I ran a dasatinib‑quercetin pulse a couple of months back and didn’t notice any obvious change in how my usual meds felt, but that’s just my own experience and could be placebo or just low sensitivity. The real question is whether a few days of 1 g hits enough plasma concentration to meaningfully curb clearance – most papers I’ve
  • kenji_runs: Cheers for that, the 3A4 and 2D6 bit is exactly what i was after. 2D6 is the one that worried me honestly cos a couple of my things go through that pathway. Your point about chronic vs burst is spot on, that's the whole issue right, the in vitro stuff doesn't tell us much about a 3-day pulse. Did you happen to check your plasma levels or anything or were you just going by feel? Reckon that's the gap nobody's filled properly.
