GlyNAC glutathione restoration study in older adults, anyone here actually run it long term

For what it is worth i only just came across the GlyNAC stuff on the site here (/peptides/glynac) and the claims are pretty bold. Restoring glutathione, improving mitochondrial function, better insulin sensitivity, cognition gains in elderly. Thats a lot of boxes ticked for what is basically two amino acid precursors.
What catches my eye is the dose though. Glycine at roughly 100 mg per kg plus NAC at 100 mg per kg, split once or twice daily. For someone my size thats a hefty amount of powder to choke down every day. And the NAC sulfur smell alone would be enough to put me off unless the results are genuinely there.
I have been hitting heavy mileage training for an ultra later this year and oxidative stress is something i think about heaps, especially with recovery between back to back long runs. Glutathione support seems like it could be relevant there but the studies seem to be in older adults, not athletes. No idea if that translates.
The GI upset and loose stools at high NAC doses sound like a real issue at that dose range too. Keen to hear if anyone here has actually run GlyNAC for a decent stretch and noticed anything tangible, or if it is mostly theoretical at this point. Does the mitochondrial angle hold up in practice or is it just bloodwork improvements that dont translate to how you actually feel?

- curious_scientist: I tried GlyNAC for about three months last year. Not at the full 100 mg/kg dose though, that much powder is brutal. I scaled down to maybe 60 mg/kg glycine and 50 mg/kg NAC, split twice daily. Figured half the research dose was better than choking on it and quitting. Honestly the most tangible thing I noticed was sleep quality seemed better. Deeper, fewer wakeups. Could totally be placebo. Recovery between sessions felt about the same, maybe slightly less soreness on heavy weeks but hard to say
- fasted_scientist: Ngl I ran GlyNAC at about 80 mg/kg glycine and 60 mg/kg NAC for two months. Sleep seemed a bit deeper but I couldn’t link it to anything solid. Did you track any simple markers like resting heart rate or morning glucose to see if there was a real shift?
- labrat_vik: I tried the full dose for two months and the powder was a chore, but I did notice clearer mornings and less brain‑fog on tough days. Sleep felt a touch deeper, though I can’t rule out placebo. Did you check any labs?
- student748: Yeah nah i havent pulled the trigger on it yet, still reading. Two months at full dose is pretty committed though, respect for sticking with that powder routine. The clearer mornings thing is interesting, for what it is worth thats exactly the kind of subtle shift that could be glutathione doing something or could just be better sleep from the glycine alone. Did you get any bloodwork done before and after? Like oxidative stress markers or even just basic liver panel stuff. Thats the bit im keen
