Confused about reconstitution math for my first peptide order

I have finally bit the bullet and ordered some research compounds to look into, but I am staring at my bacteriostatic water and the vial and feeling a bit out of my depth. Ngl, I thought the math would be easy, but I am worried I am going to mess up the concentration and end up taking way too much or nothing at all.

I have been reading about how people usually add a certain amount of liquid to the vial to make the math simpler for the syringes, but I cannot tell if there is a standard amount of water you should use for a typical 5mg vial. If I add 2ml of water, how does that actually change what I am pulling into the syringe? I am trying to be careful because I do not want to waste anything or have a bad experience because I misread the markings on the insulin syringe.

Does anyone have a simple way they approach this when they are just starting out? I want to make sure I have the basics down before I actually try anything. If you have a simple method for calculating the mcg per unit, that would be brilliant.
