First time mixing peptides, any tips for a total newbie?

Posted by fasted_scientist in Beginner Questions - 1 points, 4 comments.

So I've been reading up on GH peptides and I think I want to try something mild to start. MK-677 seems like the obvious first step since it's oral, but I keep seeing people talk about mixing powders and water and it looks intimidating. I've never done an injection before either.

My question is: for someone who's never reconstituted anything before, what's the actual step-by-step look like? Do I need an alcohol swab, a filter needle, a drawing needle, then the injection needle? How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a typical 2mg vial?

And once it's mixed, how do I store it, fridge? Room temp?

  • labrat_hank: If you are looking at MK-677, it is usually a powder in a capsule or liquid, so you might not even need to mix anything? Most people use peptides like BPC-157 or CJC-1295 when they talk about reconstitution. For the mixing part, it is mostly about being clean. You use alcohol swabs on the vial top. You typically use a larger drawing needle to pull the bacteriostatic water in, then another needle to take the peptide out. I find using 2ml of water for a small vial makes the math easier for my own
  • fasted_scientist: Yeah you're spot on, MK-677 is oral so that part's sorted. I was asking about reconstitution because I reckon I'll move onto injectables like CJC-1295 or ipamorelin once I'm comfortable. The 2ml tip is brilliant, makes the maths way easier than trying to work with 1ml. So with 2ml in a 2mg vial, that'd be 1mg per ml, yeah? And how long does a mixed vial actually last in the fridge before you'd bin it?
  • midwest_scientist: Here's a thought: MK-677 is often sold pre-dissolved or in capsule form, so you might skip the whole mixing rig. But if you do get a powder, the process is straightforward: alcohol swab the vial top, pull water with a drawing needle, inject slowly. I've used 2ml for a 2mg vial before, makes the dosing math nicer. And yeah, fridge storage is non-negotiable once it's mixed. Heat just kills them. Are you planning to track anything specific, or just seeing how you feel? I'd keep it simple at first
  • fasted_scientist: Yeah I've seen the capsule form around, might just go that route to start honestly. Less faffing about. But good to know the 2ml ratio for if I do end up with powder, that does make the maths easier. As for tracking, I'd want to at least keep a log of sleep quality and morning fasted glucose since I've read MK-677 can push blood sugar up a bit. Have you noticed that yourself, or is that overblown?
