FDA trying to kill compounded GLP-1s again

This article discusses the FDA moving to permanently remove semaglutide and tirzepatide from the bulk lists for compounders. Basically, they want to shut down the legal loopholes that allow these versions to exist.

I find it quite annoying that they only care about the compounding pharmacies now that the official supply is stabilizing. For me, the cost of the brand name stuff is just not lagom. It is way too high for most people to maintain long term. I have kept a close eye on my bloodwork and my weight trends, and I dont see why the FDA thinks the compounded versions are suddenly more dangerous than they were during the shortage.

Do you think they will actually succeed in closing all the doors, or will the courts block them again? I suspect people will just find other ways to get their research compounds regardless of what the FDA says.

Your friends bloodwork staying steady matches what Ive seen on my own panels. Nothing weird showed up for me either. Thats partly why I dont buy the safety argument. Do you know if your friends were using 503A or 503B sources? Im curious whether the FDA goes after one category first.

Mine did too, basically identical lipid panel and fasting glucose before and after, which is what you would expect if the compound is actually what it says. The cost difference is the real issue though. Do you have a backup plan if the pharmacies lose in court, or are you looking at other GLP options already?
