GHRP-6 appetite issues vs GH release

Posted by fasted_scientist in GH & Growth Peptides - 12 points, 4 comments.

I have been looking into adding GHRP-6 to my current routine to see if it helps with my recovery after training, but I am a bit hesitant about the hunger aspect. Ngl, the idea of feeling that intense hunger all the time sounds like a nightmare when I am trying to stay disciplined with my meal prep.

I have read that it is quite effective for stimulating GH release, but I am curious if anyone has actually managed to use it without it completely wrecking their appetite control. For me, keeping my hunger in check is half the battle, and I do not want to end up snacking on rubbish just because the peptide is hitting those ghrelin pathways.

Has anyone here tried it and found that the hunger settles down after a few weeks? Or is it just a constant thing? I am also wondering if the potential for cortisol elevation or water retention is as significant as some of the papers suggest. I would love to hear if anyone has a protocol that works for them without the massive side effects.

  • squats_engineer: Fwiw I tried GHRP-6 a few months ago hoping it would boost recovery after heavy lifts. The hunger hit hard almost right away – I felt like I could eat a whole pizza after every injection. It didn’t really taper off for me after two weeks, and I ended up snacking more than planned, which messed with my meal prep. I also noticed a bit of water retention in my face and hands, though I didn’t check cortisol levels. If you’re strict about calories, the appetite effect can be a real obstacle. Has any
  • fasted_scientist: Cheers for sharing that, sounds exactly like what I was worried about. The fact it never settled for you after two weeks is proper gutting because that was my main hope. Did you run a fairly standard dose or go lower? I have seen people suggest pinning it post-meal to blunt the ghrelin spike but I have not found any actual data backing that up, just forum chatter. Might just stick with ipamorelin if the hunger is that relentless.
  • tracker_jade: Anecdotally I tried GHRP-6 at half the usual dose right after dinner and the hunger spike was much milder – I still felt a bit peckish but not the all‑out pizza craving. Water retention was still there though, just less noticeable in my face. Has anyone timed it pre‑meal instead?
  • fasted_scientist: Half dose after dinner is a decent shout actually, might try that myself since I reckon the food already in my stomach would blunt the ghrelin hit a bit. The water retention bit is what puts me off more than the hunger if I am honest, ngl I did not realise it could show up in your face like that. Did the retention settle after a couple weeks or was it just consistently there the whole time you were on it?
