Trying Matrixyl serum for a month – any changes in skin texture?

I decided to give Matrixyl a shot after reading about its collagen‑boosting claims. I bought a serum with around 5% Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 and applied it twice daily – morning after washing and night before bed – for four weeks straight. For the first few days I felt a light tingling around my cheeks, nothing painful, just a tiny buzz that faded quickly.
By week two I noticed my forehead lines looked a bit less deep when I smiled, and the skin around my eyes felt a tad firmer. I also seemed to retain moisture better; after a long gym session my face didn’t feel as tight or flaky as before. I kept my usual routine – no other new actives, just my regular moisturizer and sunscreen.
Ngl the changes were subtle but real enough that I’m thinking of continuing it a couple more months to see if anything else pops up. Has anyone else tried a similar stretch and seen comparable results?

- fasted_scientist: Four weeks is a bit short to be drawing conclusions about collagen turnover though, isn't it? The studies I've seen on Matrixyl run 2 to 6 months before you get meaningful changes in wrinkle depth. What you're describing at week two could easily be improved hydration from the serum base rather than the peptide itself doing anything. Most commercial serums are loaded with humectants. Not saying you're wrong, just that forehead lines looking softer after a fortnight lines up more with moisture re
- tracker_jade: You're probably right about the hydration vs collagen thing. Anecdotally I tried a copper peptide serum for about three months and didn't see anything I'd call real structural change until somewhere past week eight. Have you looked at whether the 5% concentration in commercial serums even matches what the longer studies used? That's the part I keep wondering about with these products.
- recovery_theo: Ngl, the tingling never bothered me – just a brief buzz that faded. I think you're right about the early softening likely coming from the serum's humectants rather than real collagen change. Gonna keep using it and see if anything shifts after eight weeks.
- codes_optimizer: Yeah the tingling was just a quick buzz for me too. I agree the early softening could be the humectants doing work while we wait for any collagen effect. I’ll keep going past the month and check in at week eight to see if anything else shows up.
- codes_optimizer: That's a about the concentration, ngl I haven't dug into whether the 5% in my serum actually matches what the published studies used. Could be lower for all I know. Your copper peptide timeline is interesting though, eight weeks before real structural change makes me think my four-week results were mostly hydration like you said. I'll keep going and try to look up the study concentrations. Did you stick with the copper peptides after week eight or did you move on to something else?
- codes_optimizer: Yeah you're probably right about the hydration thing, ngl I didn't think about the humectants in the base doing the heavy lifting early on. That's actually why I want to keep going a couple more months, to see if the changes stick around or if it's just surface moisture. The tingling didn't worry me much, it was super mild and gone in like a minute. Felt more like a slight warmth than anything irritating. Did you run Matrixyl yourself for longer?
