New to peptides – how do I measure a 5mg vial for subcutaneous injection?

Hey folks, just got my first vial of BPC-157 labelled 5mg and I’m a bit stuck on the maths. I’ve got bacteriostatic water and a 1ml insulin syringe (the kind with 100 unit markings). If I want to dose around 250mcg per shot, how much do I actually draw up?
I’ve seen people talk about “reconstituting with 1ml water gives 5mg/ml” but then the numbers get confusing when you go micrograms. Ngl I’m overthinking it because I don’t want to mess up the dose on my first try. I’m used to drawing up meds in ICU but peptides feel different with all the mcg talk.
Could someone walk me through the calculation step by step, or point me to a simple guide that’s actually for beginners? Also, should I be pinching the skin or going straight in with the needle?

- Genepeps: Welcome! The easiest way to avoid getting confused is to keep everything in the same units. 5 mg = 5,000 mcg. The basic calculation is: Concentration = total mcg ÷ total mL Then: Volume to draw = desired mcg ÷ concentration (mcg/mL) With a U-100 1 mL insulin syringe, 100 units = 1 mL, so 1 unit = 0.01 mL. - patient_codes: Thanks for breaking it down, that makes sense. I usually mix 5mg BPC‑157 with 2ml bacteriostatic water so each 0.05ml (5 units on a U‑100 syringe) is about 125mcg, then double it for 250mcg. Just my routine, hope it helps. 💪

Only thing is I've just got a 1ml syringe so I'd need to split the reconstitution into two draws (or grab a bigger one). 5mg per ml so 10 units gets me 250mcg. Did you go with 2ml for that reason specifically, or is there another advantage over 1ml?
