First peptide injection – where exactly do I put the needle?

Posted by fasted_scientist in Beginner Questions - 9 points, 6 comments.

Hey folks, I’m completely new to this and just got my first vial of BPC-157. I’ve read the reconstitution steps but I’m still unsure about the injection part. When a protocol says “subcutaneous”, does that mean just pinching a bit of skin anywhere on the belly or thigh and going in at a 45‑degree angle?

I tried a test shot with saline yesterday and honestly felt a bit wobbly – ngl, I’m used to giving IVs at work but doing it to myself feels weird. Does anyone have a simple, step‑by‑step description of where they usually inject and how deep the needle should go? Also, should I rotate sites each time or stick to one spot?

Any tips on making it less painful or avoiding bruising would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

  • biohacker_derek: You got it right on the belly or thigh. Just pinch a fold of skin and go straight in at 90 degrees if the needle is short enough, which most are. I usually go for the stomach since its easiest to reach. For me, rotating sites is a must because I tended to get little bumps if I hit the same spot too often. If you want to avoid bruising, dont rub the area after you pull the needle out. Just press a cotton ball on it for a few seconds. Its funny how doing it to yourself is harder than doing it fo
  • student_nora: Yeah i pinch and go 90 with a short insulin needle too. Stomach works best for reach. I rotate and just dab, no rubbing, helps avoid those little lumps. Took me a couple tries to stop shaking.
  • fasted_scientist: Cheers for the tip on the 90 degree angle. I was sticking to 45 but reckon I will try going straight in next time to see if it is easier. I am still a bit shaky (ngl it is just a mental thing) but good to know you had the same issue. Do you find that rotating sites actually stops the lumps or is it just a general rule of thumb?
  • fasted_scientist: Thanks for the tip Derek. I’ll try the stomach with a 90‑deg angle using my short insulin needle and pinch a fold. I’ll rotate spots and just press a cotton ball after, no rubbing. Did you notice any difference in absorption between belly and thigh?
  • tracker_jade: Anecdotally I didn't notice much difference in how fast BPC-157 seemed to kick in between belly and thigh. Belly fat is just easier to pinch and access yourself, especially around the umbilical area. Thigh works fine too but I found it a little more awkward to get the right angle solo. I'd say pick whichever you're more comfortable with and just rotate so you're not hitting the same spot back to back.
  • fasted_scientist: Cheers, that's useful. I reckon I'll go with belly then since the thigh angle was what threw me off during the saline test. When you say rotate, are you just moving a few centimetres over each time, or do you actually switch to a completely different area like thigh every other shot? Just trying to get a feel for how much spacing people actually do in practice.
