How do I reconstitute a Mazdutide vial – basic steps for a first timer?

Hey folks, I’ve never handled a peptide before and I’m looking at a 5 mg Mazdutide vial that came with bacteriostatic water. I’m not sure how much water to add or how to mix it without damaging the peptide. Could someone walk me through the exact steps – like how many millilitres of bac water to use, how to swirl versus shake, and how to store it after mixing?

Also, once it’s reconstituted, how do I draw the right amount for a subcutaneous injection if I’m aiming for a 3 mg dose once a week? I’ve read the description online but the maths still feels fuzzy. Any tips on what to look for to know it’s mixed properly (no particles, clear solution) would be really helpful. Thanks in advance for any plain‑English guidance.

  • tracker_jade: You definitely want to swirl it, not shake it. I've heard shaking can break the peptide chains. Just let it roll between your palms or swirl it gently until it is clear. If you see particles that wont dissolve, something is wrong. For the math, if you put 1 ml of bac water into a 5 mg vial, you have 5 mg per ml. To get 3 mg, you would draw up 0.6 ml or 60 units on a standard insulin syringe. Anecdotally, it seems easier to use more water if you want a smaller injection volume, but the math gets
  • fasted_scientist: Ngl the math part was tripping me up, so thanks for laying that out. 6 ml sounds manageable, though I reckon I might use 2 ml of bac water just to make the volume a bit smaller and easier to handle. 2 ml for my 3 mg dose? Also, how long do you reckon it stays good in the fridge once it is mixed?
  • skeptical_benchpr: Yeah swirl is safer i usually add 2ml bac water to a 5mg vial gives 2.5mg/ml so 3mg is 1.2ml easier to measure with a 1ml syringe twice just check for clarity before injecting na?
  • fasted_scientist: 2ml dose sounds a bit clunky with a 1ml syringe. 5ml. It feels like less room for error if I am not trying to do multiple shots just to hit one dose. Do you think using more water makes it harder to see if there are any tiny particles left in there?
