Ars Technica is reporting on how RFK Jr. is trying to push the FDA to reverse its stance on several popular peptides by stacking an advisory panel with his own allies. It looks like a massive political fight over whether these compounds should be easier to get despite a lack of formal safety data.

Fwiw, the clash between the scientists and the promoters is expected. The FDA is always slow, but the lack of data is a real problem for those of us who actually track our numbers. I dont trust the gray market blindly. When I track my HRV and bloodwork, I want to know exactly what is in the vial. Just because a few influencers say something is lekker doesnt mean it is safe for everyone.

Do you think deregulation would actually improve quality control, or would it just lead to more garbage products hitting the market? I suspect the latter. It seems like a recipe for more side effects because there is no oversight on purity.

  • daph_v: honestly it would probably just be a free for all, like some absolute chaos where you are basically playing russian roulette with your bloodwork and that sounds like a nightmare, but i mean we are already doing that by shopping from some random site with a generic layout and a whatsapp contact, so is it even a change eh. for me i just worry that if it goes fully wild we will get way more fake stuff that is just saline or worse, and honestly who wants that, just my own experience but i feel like
  • remy_cycles: I hear you, daph_v. For a while I ordered from a site that looked legit but my labs showed off‑range IGF‑1, turned out the batch was underdosed. Just my own experience, but it made me double‑check every source now. More deregulation would likely bring more of that guesswork.
  • kevin291: That is exactly why i keep my bloodwork current. Finding out your IGF-1 is off because of a bad batch is a nightmare, shame that happens so often. fwiw, i think the guesswork is the worst part. If things get deregulated, the amount of garbage products will just increase. I would rather have a slow FDA than a market full of underdosed vials that make my data useless. How often are you checking your labs now to verify the stuff?
  • kevin291: That is a fair point about the whatsapp contacts. Its basically a gamble now anyway, hey. But if it becomes a free for all, the sheer volume of fake stuff would likely spike. I already spend way too much time checking my bloodwork to make sure I am not just injecting saline. Fwiw, I would rather have a slow FDA than a market full of garbage that makes everyone think these compounds dont work because they bought a dud.
