My two weeks with NA‑Selank – calm focus or just placebo?

I decided to try NA‑Selank after reading about its anxiolytic and focus effects. I used the intranasal spray about 350 mcg each morning and another 350 mcg early afternoon for 14 days. For me the first few days felt a bit strange – mild nasal tingling and a slight heaviness in the head, nothing painful.

After day three I noticed that my mind felt quieter when I sat down to write, less jumping from one thought to another. It was not a sharp boost like caffeine but more a steady calm that let me stay on a paragraph longer without feeling restless. Mood wise I felt a bit lighter in the evenings, less prone to the usual afternoon worry spiral.

I did not track any objective metrics, just how I felt. Could be placebo, hard to say. If I repeat I would lower the afternoon dose to see if the mild drowsiness I sometimes felt late day disappears and maybe try taking it only before work sessions. Would love to hear if others had similar subtle shifts or if they stacked it with something like NA‑Semax.

  • avery_c: That matches a lot of what I've heard from people running Selank, the slow build over several days and the "quieter mind" rather than any obvious stimulation. For me personally the nasal tingling faded after the first week, and the afternoon dose definitely made me a bit foggy if I took it too late, so your plan to cut or move it sounds reasonable. The thing I keep wondering about is whether the subjective calm people describe lines up with the proposed BDNF and serotonin pathways or if it's mo
  • leah_s: Yeah the afternoon timing is tricky, i had same problem first few days. Took it too late once and felt kind of slow for an hour or so. Moving it to before lunch seemed to work better for me. About your question, i think honestly nobody on a forum can really answer that. The rodent data is what it is, but how it translates to how i feel writing on a tuesday afternoon is a different thing entirely. I just try to notice what i actually notice and leave the mechanism to the researchers ✨
  • theo149: That lines up with what I saw – after about five days my resting HRV crept up a notch and I felt less twitchy during long data‑entry runs. I reckon the GABA effect kicks in first, then the BDNF/serotonin tweaks smooth things out over the week. Just my two cents.
  • leah_s: Interesting that you also noticed the twitchiness fading, that matches what I had during longer writing sessions. The HRV creep is something I didn't measure myself but it makes sense with how calm the afternoons felt. Did you keep the same dose the whole time or adjust it? I am wondering if that afternoon 350 was actually doing much for me or if morning alone would be enough next round.
