Anyone pairing berberine with a GLP-1, and did it actually move fasting glucose for you?

Kinda curious if anyone here has stacked berberine alongside their GLP-1 and tracked actual numbers.
I've been on tirz for a while now, and my fasting glucose was hanging around 95 to 100 on my glucometer logs. Not terrible, but I wanted to see if I could nudge it down without bumping my dose.
So I added berberine at 500mg twice a day with meals, basically the standard split. I've been logging morning fasted glucose every day for about 6 weeks now.
My average dropped from like 97 to around 90. Some days 87, some days 92. Could totally be noise or just the GLP-1 doing its thing longer term.
The annoying part is the GI stuff. I get a little crampy if I take it on an empty stomach, so I had to make sure it was always with food. After that it was fine.
Has anyone else pulled actual fasting glucose numbers on this combo? Curious if the AMPK angle actually shows up in real data or if it's just one of those things that looks good on paper.

- skeptical_nomad: Tbh the drop from 97 to 90 over 6 weeks is right in the range I'd expect from tirz alone, hard to credit the berberine without a true washout period. Berberine's AMPK stuff has some human data but most of it is in folks not already on a GLP-1, so stacking them kinda muddies the picture. (also glucometer variance day to day can be like 10 to 15 percent, so a few points is tough to call). The GI cramping thing is super common with berberine, sounds like you figured out the with food trick which i
- quiet_longevity: Yeah that's a fair call ngl, probably need a real washout to know what's doing what... And honestly you're right the meter variance alone is enough to mess with my numbers. I was kinda hoping for a clearer signal lol π
- calmtara: Yeah fair point on the washout thing, practically though I'm not gonna stop my GLP-1 just to test a supplement lol. The glucometer variance thing is real though, I only log my actual number and not the range, so that's a blind spot. On the three dose split though, I've tried that and honestly compliance just sucked for me. Way easier to remember twice a day π
- tiredmira: Haha yeah stopping the GLP-1 just to isolate berberine isn't really practical, I get it π . The twice a day split is basically the path of least resistance for sure, three times just kills adherence. Might be worth me just sticking with the BID and seeing if the average keeps drifting down over another month or two, or if 90 is basically my new floor on tirz alone. Thanks for the reality check on the logging too, gonna start noting the high/low spread not just the single number.
- tiredmira: Honestly yeah, the washout thing is the part I'm not sure how to handle without going off tirz for a bit, which I'm not really willing to do π My meter is a Contour Next, supposedly within 15% accuracy, so a 7 point drop is like right at the edge of being meaningful honestly. Curious what kind of spread you're seeing on yours day to day, because if yours moves more than mine then maybe my 97 to 90 is basically nothing.
- tiredmira: Yeah that's a fair point about the washout, I basically didn't have one so I can't really separate the two effects. My tirz dose has been steady the whole time though so the drop did start right after I added berberine, which is why I got curious π Did you actually run the numbers yourself or is that from research you've seen? Because if glucometer variance is really 10-15% then half my "improvement" might literally just be the meter being moody.
