oxandrolone bloodwork, hdl tanked at 10mg daily

been running oxandrolone 10mg split dose for six weeks now mostly for recomp while cutting. got my mid-cycle bloods back yesterday and my hdl crashed to 28 from a baseline of 46 which is a pretty substantial hit for such a low dose imo. ldl crept up a bit too but not as dramatically.

liver values are actually fine alt and ast barely moved so that's the one bright spot. honestly didn't expect the lipid profile to get wrecked this hard at 10mg makes me think i'm just sensitive to it or maybe the split dosing keeps it in my system longer. probably going to drop it this week and run some nac and niacin to try to bring hdl back up before i even think about touching another oral.

  • amber464: thanks for the context cora. my ldl went 98 to 134 trigs 72 to 89 total 185 to 212. ran tudca nac and 500mg berberine daily but no niacin cause flushing sucks imo. next panel scheduled week eight so two weeks out. curious if the berberine blunted the ldl spike at all or if it woulda been worse without it. your ten week recovery tracks with what ive seen in lab data too.
  • aspiring_codes: I’ve seen that berberine has some data suggesting modest LDL lowering, but it’s hard to isolate its effect without a proper control group. Clinically, the lipid changes from low‑dose oxandrolone tend to reverse within eight to twelve weeks after stopping, especially if the baseline was decent. I’m glad the liver markers stayed steady; that matches most single‑person reports I’ve seen at this dose range. It would be worth retesting around ten weeks off cycle to confirm the trend.
  • amber464: berberine crossed my mind but ive seen mixed lipid panels on it so im holding off until i see where things settle naturally. the 8 to 12 week reversal window matches what ive read too so that lines up. liver holding steady was the main reason i even ran it this long imo. planning to retest at week 8 off then again at week 12 to catch the trend. you think berberine 500mg bid would be worth adding at the 4 week mark or just let it ride?
