The GHK-Cu paper on PubMed, what it actually says about tissue repair

There's a proper review on PubMed that walks through what GHK-Cu actually does in tissue, not just the skincare marketing spin. It covers the gene expression stuff, wound healing data, and the early work on skin penetration. Worth a read if you're running it for an actual joint or tendon and not just chasing skin benefits.

What stood out to me is how much of the hard data is still in skin and cosmetic contexts. The deeper tissue claims get thinner fast, which tbh matches what I've seen in my own recovery, helpful but not magic. The interesting bit for me was the part about transdermal absorption and whether topical dosing can really get enough to a tendon or joint. That part's still pretty hand-wavy.

Anyone running GHK-Cu alongside BPC or TB-500 finding the topical actually does anything for deeper tissue, or is it more useful as an add-on for skin and scar quality during a cut?

  • grinder265: Ngl the transdermal penetration question is the one that always bugs me too. I tried topical GHK-Cu on a cranky Achilles last spring while running BPC subq and honestly couldnt tell if the topical did anything beyond making the skin over the area feel a bit nicer. The deeper ache didnt really change until I added the BPC, which could just mean the topical wasnt getting there at all. Have you looked at the DMSO route for getting it through? I keep hearing mixed things on whether that actually pu
  • retired_coldplunge: Yeah, DMSO came up a lot when I was digging into this too. The studies on tendon penetration are pretty thin (pun intended, sorry 😎). For me, the skin stuff always responds and the deeper bits barely budge, so I'm leaning toward it mostly staying superficial even with DMSO. Subq BPC was the thing that actually moved the needle on my cranky bits.
  • runner_aaron: Howzit. Yeah the DMSO thing came up for me too, I just left it out cos the post was already long. Tbh I've been running the topical on my shoulder and can't really tell if it's doing much past skin, feels a lot like what you described, surface stuff responds and the joint underneath just does its own slow thing. I do have BPC in the fridge so maybe I should just commit to subq and stop trying to make the topical carry the load. You ran BPC subq alongside the topical or went one or the other?
  • runner_aaron: Yeah that's pretty much where I'm at too. The skin felt softer and the scar on my shoulder looked better, but the actual tendon niggle below it didn't shift until I stacked BPC. Honestly felt like two separate things happening. I haven't tried DMSO yet, that's actually the next thing I want to look into. If you've heard mixed stuff on it for tendon sheath penetration, do you reckon it's still worth the hassle or just stick with subq BPC and call the topical a skin product?
