Dihexa oral at 10mg, am I supposed to feel it the same day or is this a slow build

Started Dihexa oral about two weeks ago at 10mg daily, fwiw. I had this expectation (probably from reading too many hyped-up threads) that I'd notice something dramatic pretty quick, like the way Semax hits you within minutes.

For me it's been way more subtle. The first few days I actually felt kind of flat and had a dull headache by late afternoon. Not terrible, just enough to notice. I stuck with it because I'd read that the adjustment period can be rough.

Around day 9 or 10 I started feeling like my recall was a bit sharper, especially with names and the stuff I always lose at the tip of my tongue. Could just be placebo though, honestly. I haven't had any of the insomnia that some people mention but I'm also pretty careful about taking it before noon.

I guess my real question is, for those of you who've run Dihexa for longer, when did it actually click for you? I keep seeing people talk about synaptogenesis like it's something you'd feel, but I suspect this is more of a cumulative thing that shows up over weeks or months rather than days.

Also curious if anyone has gone from 10mg to 20mg and whether that made a noticeable difference or just cranked up the headaches. I'd rather not push it if the lower dose is doing its job quietly. 😎

  • student_rational: Yeah its def a slow build for most people, didnt hit me till around week 3 and even then it wasnt a light switch, more like i stopped losing words mid sentence and just felt a little more "on" when reading dense stuff. The flat headache thing in week 1 is super common, id give it another week or two before judging it. On the dose bump, i went from 10 to 20 and honestly the headaches got worse without a clear upside, so i went back down. Some folks swear by 20 but i think 10 is a better starting
  • elle_z: Yeah same here actually, i was on 10 for almost a month before i even noticed anything worth mentioning, just felt a bit sharper at my own notes and easier to stay locked in when reading, nothing dramatic. I never went above 10 though cos the headache thing already put me off lol. Gonna ride it out at this dose and see where i land ⚑
  • elle_z: Yeah that tracks with what I've heard, the "stopped losing words" thing is a really good way to put it lol. And yeah staying at 10 sounds smart, I'll give it the full month before I even think about touching the dose. Appreciate the input πŸ™
  • retired_coldplunge: Yeah the word finding thing was honestly the first clue that something was different. I hadn't really thought about it until it stopped happening, if that makes sense. Give it the full month, for sure, and keep notes on the small stuff because it's easy to miss the gradual shifts. Curious where you're at with it by week 3, fwiw.
  • retired_coldplunge: That's reassuring to hear, thanks for that. A month before anything showed up, okay, so I might just be impatient (very possible, fwiw). Staying at 10 sounds smart too, no point chasing a higher dose if the headache is already showing up at this one. I'll give it another few weeks and pay closer attention to reading focus since you mentioned that specifically.
  • retired_coldplunge: Yeah that "more on" feeling with reading is exactly what I'm chasing, so good to hear it lined up for you around week 3. I'll give the 10mg another stretch before I even think about touching the dose. Glad you said something about the 20mg headaches too, because I was starting to wonder if I was underdosing. Sounds like staying put is the smarter call for now. Curious what you mean by synaptogenesis by the way, I've seen the word thrown around but never totally clear on the mechanism. πŸ“°
