Mazdutide vs tirzepatide for someone whos stalled, what would you actually try next?

Been on tirz for about 9 months now and im down around 14% but the last 6 weeks have been a grind. Same calories, same training, steps are dialed in, and the scale just sits there. Bloodwork looks fine, my glucose trends are good, my HRV is steady. Its not a compliance issue, its just a plateau.
Reading more about mazdutide lately, the dual GLP-1 and glucagon angle is interesting to me because of the hepatic fat piece. Im one of those people who carries a decent amount of visceral fat even at a normal BMI so the liver fat reduction angle caught my eye. The 18% weight loss number from early trials looks solid on paper.
For anyone whos actually run mazdutide or compared it head to head with tirz, what did the titration feel like? Was the GI stuff worse than what you got with tirz? And did the glucagon component actually show up on your fasting glucose or your energy levels, or was it basically just another GLP-1 with extra steps π

- formermiles: Not gonna lie, i've been curious about mazdutide for the same reason, that glucagon piece is what makes it interesting to me too. I'm not on it yet but i've been digging into the trial data and the liver fat reduction is legit compared to straight GLP-1 agonists, that's not marketing, it's pretty consistent across the studies i've read. For a true stall on tirz though, i'd probably want to look at a few things first before switching molecules. What's your current dose, are you maxed out, and ha
- nerdy_nomad: Yeah the glucagon angle is what hooks me too, honestly. Before I switched anything I would want to know the dose first cause if they are not at the top of the tirz range theres still room to push there. Also I am a big fan of a short diet break, even just 2 weeks at maintenance does seem to help leptin reset for some people. What was your actual dose when you stalled?
- retired_coldplunge: The glucagon angle is what keeps pulling me back to mazdutide too, fwiw. But formermiles has a point about the diet break thing. I hit a similar wall on sema last year and a couple weeks at maintenance calories actually seemed to shake things loose. Have you tried that yet, or are you just ready to move on?
- rachel_ketogen: Honestly the diet break is the one thing i havent actually tried. I kept telling myself the plateau was a sign to switch molecules but my numbers dont really back that up, calories and macros have been steady for months. Gonna run 2 weeks at maintenance next and see if the scale budges before i add anything new. Thanks for the nudge, kinda needed to hear it π
- rachel_ketogen: Honestly good call on the dose question, i was at 10mg weekly when it stalled. Not maxed out but not low either. And yeah ive heard the diet break thing from a few people, kinda skeptical it would move the needle when calories were already dialed and weight was flat for 6+ weeks but i havent actually tried it. Did the 2 weeks at maintenance do anything measurable for you or was it more of a feel thing?
- rachel_ketogen: Yeah im on 12.5 and ive been there since like month 4, so yeah im maxed. Not opposed to a diet break, ive actually thought about it but honestly 6 weeks feels long for what feels like a stubborn setpoint and not leptin dragging. Do you mean like a true maintenance stretch or just a small bump up in calories for a week or two?
