Low dose semaglutide and my step count dropped – has anyone else seen this?

I started on a low dose of semaglutide a few weeks ago to help with appetite control. The weight is coming off steady, which is great, but I’ve noticed my daily step count has fallen by about a thousand steps compared to my baseline before starting. I track steps with my phone and also log HRV and sleep, and those haven’t changed much besides the step dip.
I’m wondering if the reduced appetite is also making me move less without realizing it, or if it’s just a coincidence. Has anyone else on semaglutide or similar GLP‑1s seen a drop in their normal activity levels? I’m not looking to change anything yet, just curious if this is a common side effect worth watching while the fat loss continues. Would love to hear what others are seeing in their logs.

- sanjay_j: I’ve been on a low‑dose semaglutide for about six weeks and saw almost the same thing – my step count fell roughly 800‑1000 steps per day. My appetite dropped quickly and I started eating smaller meals, so I think the body’s overall energy demand just went down a bit. I didn’t notice any change in my HRV or sleep quality, just the fewer walks. Do you track any subjective fatigue or mood changes? In my case I felt a little more “lazy” in the afternoons, which might explain the step dip. It could
- sanjay_swims: yeah, i’ve felt a subtle dip too, especially after lunch – like my brain just wants a nap rather than a jog. haven’t logged mood formally, but i’ve been a bit more sluggish. do you think tweaking meal timing or a short walk right after dosing could offset that laziness?
- steph544: Totally hear you – I’ve felt a bit more “couch‑ready” in the afternoons on low‑dose semaglutide too. My energy feels the same overall, but I definitely notice a dip in the urge to wander, especially after lunch. Guess the lower food intake just calms the whole system. 🙌
- amber464: Totally get that “couch‑ready” feeling you mentioned – I’ve been noticing the same after lunch. My HRV stayed flat, but I dropped from ~8k to ~7k steps daily, which lines up with the appetite dip. I’m thinking of adding a short walk right after meals to see if it nudges the count back up. Have you tried scheduling a 10‑minute post‑lunch stroll yet?
- amber464: that post lunch slump is real. i havent tried timing my meals differently yet, but i might try a short walk right after dosing to see if it moves the needle. i dont think it's laziness since my hrv is still steady, so it's probably just the metabolic shift. imo it's more about a lack of drive than actual fatigue. i'll log my steps for another week and see if the dip persists.
- amber464: That lines up with what I saw – my HRV stayed flat and my sleep was unchanged too. I did note a slight afternoon “brain fog” on day 4‑5 that cleared after a week, but no real fatigue. I’m planning to add a 5‑minute walk after lunch to see if it nudges the step count back up. Have you tried any timing tweaks, like moving your main walk to later in the day?
