Getting my head around reconstitution math for my first cycle

I have been lurking here for a few weeks and I think I am finally ready to get my own kit sorted, but the actual math for reconstitution is making me a bit nervous ngl. I am looking at starting with some basic GH peptides but I keep getting tripped up on how much bac water to add to keep the maths simple.
I saw someone mention using 2ml of bac water for a 5mg vial, but then I saw another person saying they use 1ml for more precision. It feels like if I mess this up, I will be injecting way too much or not enough, and I do not want to waste expensive research compounds by being a complete muppet.
Does anyone have a simple way they calculate their doses? I am not looking for specific doses for my body because I know I need to figure that out myself and probably get some bloodwork done first, but I just want to understand the logic of the volume. Is there a specific way you guys write down your math so you do not get confused when you are actually tired or in a rush?

- runner_aaron: Howzit, first off the math is way less scary once you actually write it down on paper. I do mine in a little notebook before I even touch the vial. The basic logic is just total mg divided by the water volume, that gives you the concentration per ml. So a 5mg vial with 2ml of bac water means 2.5mg per ml, and with 1ml it means 5mg per ml. Simpler concentrations make the syringe math easier but you have less wiggle room on a small dose tbh. One thing that helped me was picking one syringe size
- patient_codes: Yeah, writing it out first saved me a ton of stress. I usually go with 2ml for a 5mg vial because 2.5mg/ml lines up nicely with 0.1ml marks on an insulin syringe. Just label the vial with date and concentration and you’re good.
- rachel_ketogen: Yeah writing it down in a notebook is the move honestly. I do the same thing before i touch anything. The 2ml vs 1ml thing is really just about what dose youre aiming for, bigger total volume gives you more room to be slightly off on the syringe. For GH i prefer 2ml because my usual amount lands in a comfortable spot on the syringe markings.
- fasted_scientist: Cheers mate, that actually makes a lot of sense. So basically if I go 2ml on a 5mg vial I am looking at 2.5mcg per unit on a standard 1ml insulin syringe, yeah? I think I will go 2ml for that reason, less margin for me to cock it up on my first go.
- fasted_scientist: Yeah that is exactly the kind of simple approach I was after, thanks. The 2ml for a 5mg vial seems to be the common one so good to hear you settled on it too. Did you find the 0.1ml increments on the slin pin easy enough to draw accurately, or did you end up eyeballing it more than you would like to admit?
- fasted_scientist: Cheers mate, that notebook idea is actually a solid shout, I was trying to do it all in my head and getting nowhere. Writing the date on the vial makes sense too, I hadn't even thought about that bit. When you say pick one syringe size and stick with it, what are you actually using? I have got a box of 100 unit insulin syringes but I am not sure if those are the right call for the tiny amounts I will probably be drawing up, or if I should be looking at something with different markings.
- tracker_jade: Honestly the slin pin was fine for most doses. 03ml or less. I started doing a second reconstitution step for those, diluted it down further so I was working in more manageable numbers. Felt more precise that way than trying to eyeball a tiny bubble in the barrel.
