Retatrutide titration, how slow did you actually go?

Right, so I've been digging into retatrutide for a planned cut later this year and the titration schedule looks aggressive on paper (1 to 12mg weekly). For those who've run it, how did you actually step up?

I'm starting at a pretty normal BMI and my main goal is dropping stubborn visceral fat rather than chasing a dramatic total weight number. I've got good baseline bloods and HRV trends so I'll be tracking closely either way.

The GI stuff worries me more than the heart rate bump honestly. Did anyone find a slower ramp (like doubling the time at each dose) made a real dent in nausea, or is it one of those things where you just have to white-knuckle week one and it calms down? Also keen to hear how appetite suppression compared to tirzepatide, since that's my reference point.

Not looking for a protocol, just curious what worked for people in practice.

  • priya_d: Ngl, the GI ramp was the main reason I stayed low longer than I planned. I held each dose for an extra week past the label schedule and that one change made a real difference. Week one at a new dose was always the rough patch, then it settled. Appetite suppression compared to tirz felt different to me, more of a quiet "I'm just not hungry" rather than the active "food repels me" vibe on tirz. Made it easier to eat normally around training. The HRV trend you already have is a good call, keep wa
  • experiment_jake: The "quiet not hungry" thing is exactly the vibe I'm hoping for, tirz made me feel actively sick around food which got old fast. Holding each dose an extra week is low cost if it saves a rough few days, reckon I'll build that in from the start. Did you find the suppression held at the lower doses or did you really need to push to the top of the range to keep things consistent week to week?
  • fasted_scientist: Yeah holding each dose an extra week was the move for me too, the label schedule is definitely not the floor for people who want to stay functional. And that "not hungry vs food repels" thing is spot on, retatrutide just took the urgency out of eating for me which honestly was easier to live with day to day. Slow game though innit, ngl patience is the whole thing with the visceral stuff.
  • experiment_jake: Cheers, yeah patience is the bit I'm trying to plan for now. I've got about 20 weeks before I want to be properly cruising at a maintenance dose so I'm thinking stretch each step to 3 weeks instead of the standard 2. Was your suppression fairly linear as you went up or did it plateau a few steps in? That's what I'm trying to get a feel for since tirzepatide felt like it kept building longer than I expected.
