Noticed HDL dip on low-dose oxandrolone, anyone else tracking lipids?

Hey folks, I’ve been running a low-dose oxandrolone experiment (10 mg split twice daily) for the last couple months mostly to see if it helps with lean mass while I’m cutting. I’m a lab tech so I got my usual bloodwork done before starting and again at six weeks. My HDL went from 55 down to 48 mg/dL, LDL stayed around 110, triglycerides crept up from 80 to 95.

I didn’t feel any different, no fatigue, no mood changes, strength in the gym felt steady. I’ve read that oxandrolone can tug lipids a bit, but seeing it on my own panel made me double‑check my diet (more omega‑3, less saturated fat) and I’m thinking about adding a modest fish oil dose. Has anyone else noticed a similar HDL shift on doses in the 10‑20 mg range?

Did you tweak anything or just keep an eye on it? Would love to hear what labs looked like for you and if you noticed any other side effects like mild liver enzymes changes or skin stuff. Thanks!

  • jake463: I’ve tried oxandrolone 12 mg daily for about eight weeks while doing a moderate cut, so I can relate. My HDL dropped from 58 to 50 mg/dL, and triglycerides went up a bit, similar to what you’re seeing. I didn’t notice any change in strength or mood either. I kept the diet basically the same but added 2 g of fish oil (EPA/DHA) after the dip appeared, and my HDL crept back up to 53 mg/dL at the 12‑week retest. My liver enzymes stayed within normal limits, and I only got a faint oily skin patch on
  • amber464: Thanks for the details, jake463. That 2 g fish oil bump sounds promising – I actually started 1 g EPA/DHA right after week 4 and saw my HDL tick up to 51 mg/dL by week 8, so I’ll crank it to 2 g and keep tracking. Did you space the fish oil with meals or take it all at once? Also, any note on your omega‑3 index or if you saw any minor GI upset when you upped the dose.
  • biohacker_priya: Thanksfor sharing, Jake. I also tried 2 g fish oil after noticing a similar HDL dip on 10 mg oxandrolone split doses; mine crept back to 50 after four weeks. Still monitoring lipids closely.
  • amber464: Nice to hear the fish oil helped you bounce back to 50, Priya. I’m still on the 10 mg split and just added 1 g EPA/DHA daily, hoping for a similar uptick. My latest HDL is 46, so I’m wondering if length of supplementation matters – did you run the full four weeks before re‑testing, or check earlier? Thanks for the tip.
