Anyone else hit a brutal plateau around week 6 on tirz and just want to eat the fridge

Right so I'm grand for the first month, dropping nicely, appetite basically gone, food noise silent, the whole dream.

Then week 6 hits and my body just parks the scale. Like, refuses. I've been logging everything, calories are still down, training's the same, sleep's even improved, and nothing moves for two weeks.

I know plateaus are a thing and the body adjusts. To be fair I'd be a bit suspicious if it just kept melting off forever.

But the mental side is what gets me. The food noise creeps back, I start eyeing the bread bin again, and suddenly I'm bargaining with myself over a bag of crisps at 10pm like some sort of gremlin.

For anyone who's pushed through it, did you titrate up, hold the dose longer, or change something else entirely? Did your numbers (HRV, resting HR, sleep) tell you anything useful before the scale caught up?

  • paige747: Oh god the 10pm crisp bargaining is so real lol... I hit something similar around week 7 on tirz and what helped me was actually titrating up a small step instead of just white knuckling it. The dose i'd been on just wasnt cutting it anymore for whatever reason, and waiting it out felt miserable. Honestly tho before changing anything i'd double check youre actually eating enough. I was logging what i thought was a deficit and when i really weighed stuff i was barely hitting 1200 cals some days,
  • erin_rows: Oh the weighing everything thing, I should probably do that. I'm a guesstimator not a measurer, so my "deficit" might be a few hundred calories of wishful thinking tbf. 1200 would not surprise me some days. Titrating up is what I was leaning toward anyway, just wanted to hear it wasn't mental. Cheers for that, I'll sit on it a week and actually weigh my food properly first before changing anything. If I'm underfueling the dose bump won't fix the stall, it'll just hide it.
  • biohacker_sarah: Yeah the underfueling thing is underrated, people forget your body will downregulate if you go too low for too long. How much did you bump up and did it break the stall or just kinda flatten things out?
  • erin_rows: Honestly sounds about right for me. I bumped maybe 200 cals a day, focused on protein around training and added a bit more on my long run day. To be fair it didn't magically snap the stall, but the food noise dropped back within a few days and HRV ticked up about 4 points on my weekly average. Scale started moving again roughly ten days later.
  • leah_vo2max: Yeah that tracks with what I've seen too. To be fair the food noise piece is the real win, not the scale. Did you keep the extra cals after the stall broke or drop back down?
