MK-677 at night vs morning, does timing actually matter for sleep?

Right so I've been going back and forth on this and ngl I keep flip flopping. Most stuff I've seen says MK-677 in the evening because the sleep deepening effect is kind of the whole selling point, and you stack it with the natural night time GH pulse.

But then I think about the 24 hour half life and wonder if it actually makes any meaningful difference. Like if you're taking it in the morning, by bedtime you've still got decent levels on board right? I've seen people claim morning dosing kills their productivity because of the lethargy, which I get, but I've also seen people say evening dosing makes them groggy the next day.

For me personally (and this could just be placebo, who knows) evening felt better for sleep quality but I woke up feeling a bit sluggish. Switched to right before bed and the grogginess seemed worse actually.

Curious what others reckon. Is there any actual data on timing or is this all just bro science at this point? And does anyone pair it with ipa at night or is that overkill?

  • tiredmira: Honestly morning dosing was a non starter for me. I'd feel washed out for a few hours and it messed with my morning HRV readings on my Whoop. Evening right before bed ended up working best for me too, and yeah I would wake up a little foggy but it cleared by mid morning. With the 24 hour half life I don't think timing is a huge deal pharmacologically, it's more about which side effects you can tolerate and when.
  • weekendnate: Yeah same here. Morning just wasn't an option, I'd drag myself through the first half of the day and my HRV would tank overnight. Evening worked way better even with a little morning fog, I'd rather deal with that than be useless at like 10am. The half life point is fair though, it's really more about how you handle the peak side effects. Splitting it across morning and night might be worth experimenting with if you want coverage without the washout, haven't tried that one myself yet.
  • frugal_dad: Fair play, that tracks with what I saw too. The half life thing is a actually, levels are levels, it's really just about when you can handle the grogginess I reckon. Morning was a write off for me as well, I'd be half asleep at me desk by 10am, useless altogether. Evening was grand once I got used to it, the hunger in the middle of the night was the only real bother for me, had to keep something in the fridge.
  • fasted_scientist: Yeah morning was a non starter for me too, the daytime lethargy is just brutal. Evening has been alright for sleep but the next day grogginess keeps tripping me up. How long did it take you to push through before the morning grogginess settled, or did it just not happen for you on evenings?
  • fasted_scientist: Cheers for that, the HRV point is interesting because I haven't actually been tracking mine properly, just going off how I feel. Maybe I should start. Splitting the dose is a decent shout ngl, I hadn't really considered it because I assumed it was a once a day sort of compound. Logically though if the issue is the peak then halving it morning and night makes sense. Might give that a go for a few weeks and see if the morning fog eases off without losing the sleep effect. How bad was your HRV dr
  • fasted_scientist: Yeah the Whoop data is actually a decent shout, that's the kind of objective bit I was fishing for. Morning was a write off for me too then, the lethargy is real even if it's just subjective. Foggy waking sounds about right as a trade off though, cheers for confirming I'm not just imagining the right before bed bit being worse than earlier in the evening.
