RU-58841 scalp irritation after a few weeks, anyone else?

Been on RU-58841 daily for about 4 weeks now, 50mg per mL vehicle, and the last week or so ive had pretty persistent itching and a kind of tight, dry feeling across the top of my scalp where i apply it. No visible rash or anything, just itchy and a bit flaky.

Im wondering if its the concentration, the vehicle im mixing it in, or just my scalp getting fed up. Has anyone else had this kick in after a few weeks rather than straight away? Ive seen the profile mentions scalp irritation and dryness as the main local side effects, so im not panicking, just trying to work out if i should drop the concentration, apply less often, or just push through.

Also worth mentioning i dont want to mess with my systemically so thats partly why i chose RU over oral fin. But if the irritation keeps up im not sure whether to just stop or try a different vehicle first. Anyone had luck switching carriers or dropping to every other day?

  • data_student: I tried RU years ago and got something similar, the itching crept in around week 3 for me too. No rash, just that tight flaky feeling. I was using ethanol and PG mixed together and I think that was part of the problem, it dried my scalp out something crazy. I dropped to every other day and it helped a lot. Also started applying a tiny bit of jojoba to the area after it dried, which seemed to calm the flaking. For me less frequency worked better than trying to dilute the concentration, no? If i
  • optimized_experiment: Yeah the every other day thing worked for me too, i never could tolerate daily even at 50. Jojoba after is a good call, didnt try that myself but makes sense, its pretty inert. Honestly tho if youre 4 weeks in and still itching i might just back off. Not worth messing with your scalp long term for this stuff...
  • peptidehead_jade: Cheers, yeah im leaning that way honestly. I might drop to every other day and try jojoba after like you said, see if that settles it in a week or two before i mess with the vehicle. How often were you doing it before you noticed the itch calmed down?
  • peptidehead_jade: Yeah the timing matches up with mine exactly, week 3 creeping in. Im in ethanol/PG too actually so maybe thats a big part of it. I didnt think about frequency being better than diluting, thats a decent point since i havent given my scalp any break days. Going to try every other day first and see if it settles before i mess with the mix.
