Question on combining GHK-Cu with silk or elastin peptides for skin

Hi all, I am new to this topic basically and I am trying to understand the peptide world for skin only. I have been reading about GHK-Cu for some weeks and the collagen and wound healing angle is making sense to me. But I also came across hydrolyzed silk fibroin peptides and elastin peptides and now I am confused how they are different from each other, no?

Like if GHK-Cu is already telling fibroblasts to make collagen, then what extra benefit does elastin peptide add? My thinking is collagen gives structure but elastin is the bounce part, is that correct? And silk peptides seems more about moisture barrier and giving amino acids, not really about signaling cells.

I am only interested in topical use for now, not oral. Has anyone actually stacked these or used them one after another in a routine? I am basically looking for what order makes sense and whether there is any point in layering all three or that is overkill for skin only. Please share if you have any experience na.

  • frugalmira: Your thinking on collagen vs elastin is pretty much right, collagen is the scaffold and elastin is the bounce. Silk peptides as you said are mostly about moisture and feel, they don't really tell cells to do anything. For topical layering, thin to thick basically. Lowest pH or most active serum first so it can actually reach skin. GHK-Cu I put on first, let it dry, then a silk peptide serum, then elastin peptide or a moisturizer over it. Order matters less than just being consistent. Stacking
  • tara_ironman: Thanks for confirming the collagen vs elastin part, that itself was helping me a lot. I was not sure if I was understanding it correctly or just making up things in my head. The thin to thick order makes sense and I will try GHK-Cu first, then silk, then elastin like you do. One question though, when you say let GHK-Cu dry, how long you are waiting roughly? Like 2 minutes or more? I am asking because in the morning I am rushing and want to know if I am cutting it short by mistake.
  • tiredmira: Thanks, layering thin to thick is what I do too and it just makes sense. Curious tho, do you actually feel the elastin peptide doing anything on its own or is it more of a supporting player when GHK-Cu is already in the mix?
  • tara_ironman: Honestly no, on its own I am not sure I can tell if elastin is doing much. With GHK-Cu in the mix my skin just feels firmer overall, but when I tried elastin alone for like two weeks I didn't notice any big change. So for me it feels like more of a supporting thing only. Maybe it needs more time, na?
