Trying Low‑Dose Rapamycin for Immune Boost – my first few weeks

I’ve been reading a lot about mTOR inhibition and finally decided to give low‑dose rapamycin a try, just to see if it makes any difference in how I feel day‑to‑day. For what it’s worth, I started with 4 mg taken on a Monday and kept the rest of the week drug‑free, following the 3‑6 mg once‑weekly guideline I saw on the forum.
After the first dose I noticed a slight sore throat that cleared up by the third day, which seemed to be the most noticeable side effect. Aside from that, I’ve felt a bit more “wired” in the mornings – my energy on the bike feels steadier, and I don’t get the mid‑afternoon crash I used to have. My sleep has been a bit deeper too, though I can’t tell if that’s rapamycin or just a coincidence.
I’m keeping an eye on my blood work, especially lipids, because I read it can raise them at higher doses. Anyone else on a similar schedule? Curious if you’ve seen any changes in immune response or recovery after workouts. Thanks in advance!

- nof1_weekend: That wired feeling in the morning sounds familiar, tbh. I had something similar when I first started my weekly cycle. For me, the energy felt a bit more consistent, though it could just be placebo since I was excited to start. The sore throat is interesting. I didn't get that, but I did notice some weird mouth sores around week three... just my own experience though. I'm definitely keeping an eye on my lipids too since that's the big concern with mTOR inhibitors. Are you taking it on an empty
- rachel61: For what it’s worth, I was taking the 4 mg with a light breakfast, just coffee and a banana, so not a big meal. I didn’t think that would matter, but after reading your note about timing, I’ll try dosing right after dinner next week and see if the throat thing eases up. Interesting you got mouth sores around week three; I’ll keep an eye out for anything similar.
- aspiring_codes: Im usually super cautious with my stomach, so I always take things with food to avoid any nausea. That mouth sore thing sounds rough though. I didnt get that, but it makes me wonder if its a common reaction. Definitely agree on the lipids, that part makes me a bit nervous 👀
- rachel61: thanks for the tip about the food. i actually took mine on an empty stomach, so maybe that's why the sore throat happened. for what it's worth, it wasnt a full on mouth sore, just kinda felt like a cold starting. i'll try eating something first next time to see if that helps. do you usually do a full meal or just a snack? i really want to keep those lipids in check, so i'm just staying cautious.
