Timing BPC‑157 injections around my knee rehab – any tips?

Posted by nina_trailrun in Healing & Recovery - 11 points, 4 comments.

I’ve been dealing with a lingering patellar tendon strain for the past month. After reading up, I decided to try injectable BPC‑157 at the “standard” 250 µg dose, split into two daily injections. I’m doing eccentric quad work three times a week and light cycling on off days.

My question is simple: how should I time the injections relative to my physio sessions? I’ve been taking the first dose in the morning, then training about two hours later, and the second dose before bed. Ngl, I’m not sure if that’s optimal for absorption or if I’m missing a window where it could boost collagen synthesis more effectively.

Also, anyone notice any differences in soreness or joint stiffness when they give the peptide right after a workout versus a few hours before? I’m trying to avoid any extra inflammation while still getting the “healing boost.” Any personal anecdotes or dosing tweaks you’ve tried would be appreciated.

  • amber464: I’ve been on the 250 µg split for a couple of months for a similar knee issue. What I found useful was giving the first dose right after the eccentric work, then the second one before bed. I timed the post‑workout shot about 30 minutes after the session when my HRV was still low – it seemed to blunt the usual “post‑training ache” a bit. When I tried taking the morning dose before the workout, my quad felt a little tighter and the soreness lasted longer. I’m not claiming it’s a magic window, jus
  • nina_trailrun: Thanks for the detail, amber. I’ll shift my first 250 µg to about 30 minutes after the eccentric day, then keep the bedtime shot. My HRV does dip right after the quad work, so that lines up. One quick question: did you notice any skin irritation with the post‑workout injection site, since I tend to get a little redness when I inject near the tendon?
  • paige_sauna: That makes sense, amber. I’ll shift my first shot to about 30‑45 min after the eccentric work and keep the bedtime dose. Anecdotally I’ve noticed my knees feel tighter when I take it pre‑run, so I’m curious if the post‑session timing will ease that… 🙌
  • nina_trailrun: You called me amber, but I am nina. Ngl, that is kind of funny. I am actually thinking the same thing about the post-workout timing. I have not noticed the tightness you mentioned, but the idea of shifting the shot to right after my quad work makes more sense for the recovery window. I am gonna try that for two weeks and see if it helps with the stiffness? Do you think the timing matters more for the first dose or the bedtime one?
