Achilles tendinopathy at month 5, BPC subq vs oral making a real difference?

Ngl i'm at the point where i'm questioning everything about my rehab. Had a grumbling achilles for like 5 months now, started as post-race overload and just never fully cleared. Been doing the boring stuff, eccentrics, isometrics, slow return to running, all of it. Progress is there but glacial.

Ran a wolverine stack (BPC + TB-500) for about 8 weeks and i think it helped early on, def felt less angry in the morning. Ran out, took a break, and noticed the stiffness creeping back in. Now i'm thinking about layering in oral BPC on top of a second injectable round since i can feel the tissue still being irritable on hard days.

For anyone who's dealt with a slow achilles specifically, did you notice a difference between subq BPC and the oral arginate form? I know the oral is supposedly more gut/systemic and less targeted at tendon, but curious if anyone saw real tendon benefit from it vs just throwing it at the stack. Also open to thoughts on whether cycling on/off is dumb vs just running it longer. Bloodwork all clean, no other red flags.

  • quiet_ironman: I’ve been dealing with a stubborn Achilles myself for about six months and I tried both routes. The subq BPC gave me a noticeable drop in morning soreness after a couple weeks, especially when I paired it with light eccentrics. When I switched to the oral arginate form for a month I didn’t feel the same direct tendon relief – it seemed more like a general gut comfort thing, though my overall recovery felt a bit smoother on rest days. I ended up going back to subq for a second 6‑week cycle and k
  • grinder265: Yeah that lines up w what i was suspecting. The subq def feels more targeted, like the morning stiffness is the first thing to fade. Oral didnt do much for the actual tendon when i tried it solo, just kinda felt like a general recovery bump, similar to what you said. Thinking i'll do another subq round, prob 6 weeks, and skip the oral this time. Was mostly curious if layering both did anything for anyone or if the oral is just kinda redundant if im already pinning. How long did you wait betwee
  • weekendnate: Interesting that you felt more gut comfort than tendon relief on the oral arginate, since most of what people claim about oral BPC is gut-related anyway. For me the injectable around the tendon site vs subq far from it was night and day, way more localized effect. How far off the actual tendon were you injecting subq?
  • grinder265: Honestly i'm not pinning it peritendinous, i was doing subq in the belly/love handle area like 4-5 inches away from the tendon. So basically systemic exposure, not targeted at all. That tracks with what you're saying if local really matters here. Did you do the peritendinous route the whole time or start subq and switch over? Trying to figure out if it's worth retraining my injection map at this point or just lean on the systemic effect and accept slower progress.
