"Mazdutide vs tirz, anyone compared the two directly?"

"I did 4 months on tirz last year, dropped around 35 lbs and the appetite suppression was honestly life changing for me. Got off it for a break and my weight has been creeping back up, like 8 lbs in 2 months, mostly in my midsection it feels like πŸ˜…

So now I'm looking at mazdutide as a restart option. The dual GLP-1 plus glucagon action is interesting to me, especially the liver fat piece since my last DEXA showed some visceral fat I wanna target. From the profile it looks like the weight loss numbers can match tirz, maybe even go a bit higher.

Has anyone here actually gone from tirz to mazdutide and can speak to how they compare in real life? I'm specifically curious about the day to day appetite effect, energy levels, and whether the GI sides hit harder on the glucagon side. Also wondering if anyone noticed anything different in body composition, since mazdutide seems to lean more into the fat oxidation angle.

If you did make the switch, did you start at the same low dose or go lower to see how your body reacted? My plan is to titrate slow either way πŸ₯—

  • recovery_midwest: Honestly i haven't gone straight from tirz to mazdutide, but i did run mazdutide for a few months last year after bouncing off a different glp-1 and the appetite suppression felt noticeably more "background" to me, like i just kinda forgot about food rather than the full on food aversion i got on tirz πŸ™Œ The gi stuff was real for me, first couple weeks were gross, but it calmed down. I went low and stayed low longer than the protocol suggested just because i didn't see the point in rushing it.
  • greg208: That "background" suppression description is exactly what id be after, the full food aversion thing on tirz sounds brutal to me. Quick question though, when you say you went low and stayed low, what sort of range are we talking? Still trying to get my head round sensible starting points for this one compared to tirz dosing. Cheers for sharing that, really useful.
  • tiredmira: So on tirz i basically ate 2 meals a day, nothing in between unless i forced it. My calorie intake was probably sitting around 1300-1500 most days without trying. I never tracked super closely because honestly the suppression made it kinda pointless. For mazdutide i'm thinking of starting at the lower end and titrating slower than the tirz schedule, just because the glucagon piece seems like it could be rougher on the GI side. Gonna see how my body handles it before pushing dose.
  • tiredmira: That "background" thing actually resonates, like not having food dominating your thoughts is kind of the dream right? Tirz was more like a wall for me, if that makes sense πŸ˜… And yeah the "stay low longer" approach is basically what I was leaning toward anyway, the protocol-escalation pace always felt aggressive to me for something this potent. How low did you start, like 2 or 3mg?
