First 3 weeks on Mazdutide – weight, appetite and HRV notes

I started Mazdutide at 3 mg once weekly about three weeks ago, mostly to see if the dual GLP‑1/glucagon action would help with the last stubborn pounds around my midsection. I’m tracking my weight each morning, appetite scores before meals, and nightly HRV on my wearable. So far the scale is down about 4 lbs, which feels a bit faster than what I saw with semaglutide alone at a similar dose.

Appetite has dropped noticeably – I’m eating smaller portions without feeling deprived, and I haven’t had the strong cravings I used to get after dinner. HRV has been a little more variable; some nights it’s up, others it’s down, but I’m not sure if that’s the peptide, changes in my training load, or just normal fluctuation. Side effects have been mild: a bit of nausea the first two days after each injection and occasional loose stools, nothing that made me skip a dose.

5 mg next week and will keep logging everything. Would love to hear if anyone else has seen similar HRV shifts or appetite changes on this compound.

  • fasted_scientist: Ngl I’ve only heard bits about Mazdutide from a mate who’s on a trial for weight loss, so I’m keen to see how it plays out for you. The 4 lb drop in three weeks does look quicker than my own semaglutide run, though I know weight can swing a lot early on with water shifts. I’ve noticed that appetite suppression often comes with a bit of gut noise, so the loose stools you mention could just be the GLP‑1 part kicking in. As for HRV, mine tends to jump around when I change carb intake or training i
  • brooke_h: I’ve been logging sleep with my watch and it’s been pretty steady around seven to eight hours a night, no big shifts there. HRV’s still a bit jumpy, could be the lower carb intake I’ve slipped into since appetite dropped. 😅 What’s your carb look like on semaglutide?
  • tiredmira: Basically, my carbs were a lot higher on semaglutide, maybe around 150g. I was still craving bread and pasta back then. Now on Mazdutide, I'm naturally dipping below 80g some days because I just don't want the food. That could definitely explain why my HRV is jumpy, like you mentioned. I'll try to keep the carbs more stable this week and see if the numbers flatten out 🥗.
  • tiredmira: Thanks for the input. My sleep duration has stayed around seven hours each night, so I don’t think that’s driving the HRV swings.
  • grinder265: Interesting, so the HRV variability isnt a sleep duration thing then. Ngl thats kinda what id expect with the glucagon component kicking in, your body is working harder to mobilize energy even at rest. Hows your resting hr looking, also bouncing around or staying put?
  • tiredmira: 5 hrs so yeah, probably not a duration thing. Resting HR is mostly flat, maybe a beat or two higher than my baseline but nothing dramatic. The glucagon piece makes sense to me though, I hadn't thought of it that way, basically like a low-grade metabolic stress signal showing up in HRV. I'll keep an eye on whether it settles once I'm on 5 mg.
