Anyone notice HDL dip or liver tweaks on low-dose Oxandrolone?

Hey folks, I’ve been running low-dose Oxandrolone (around 15mg split twice daily) to help with tendon recovery after a tough ultra. Got my bloodwork done after six weeks and saw my HDL drop from 55 to about 42, LDL stayed steady. ALT crept up a touch from 22 to 28, still in range but noticeable.

Ngl I was a bit surprised because I’d heard it’s mild on lipids. Has anyone else seen a similar shift on doses under 20mg? Did you tweak anything, like adding fish oil, timing doses with meals, or cutting back on alcohol, to bring lipids back up?

I’m thinking of getting a full panel again before I decide whether to keep going or taper. Just curious what your experiences have been, especially if you’re also mixing it with recovery peptides like BPC‑157 or KPV. Stay safe and keep those labs in check.

  • fasted_scientist: Ngl I ran a similar 10mg split dose for a niggly elbow strain last year and my HDL fell from 58 to 44 after six weeks, ALT crept up from 20 to 27. I added a gram of fish oil most days and cut back on weekend pints, and on the next test HDL crept back to 48 while ALT stayed around 25. It’s not a fix, just a nudge, and the lipid shift seems pretty common even at low doses – the “mild” label is relative. Have you checked whether taking it with food changes the liver enzymes for you? Keep those pan
  • casey613: Yeah I saw the same dip on 15mg split, HDL went 56 to 40 after six weeks. Took it with meals and added omega‑3, HDL crept to 45, ALT stayed 26. Does food timing really blunt the liver bump for you?
  • grinder265: Ngl that hdl drop is almost identical to mine. Crazy how consistent that is. I haven't really played around with food timing yet, just taking it whenever. I'm curious if that actually helps the liver since you saw alt stay at 26. I'll try timing mine with meals and bumping the omega 3s to see if i can get that 42 back up. Do you think it takes a few weeks to see the shift in labs?
  • grinder265: Yeah I’ve been dosing first thing in the morning on an empty stomach so I haven’t checked food effect yet. I’ll try taking the 7.5mg doses with breakfast for the next couple weeks and see if ALT moves. Thanks for the fish oil tip I’ll add that too.
