Trying GlyNAC for a month – any notes on energy and skin?

Hey folks, I decided to give GlyNAC a go after reading a bit about glutathione precursors and thought I’d log what I noticed. I’m in my early thirties, based in Singapore, and I split the dose into two servings a day – roughly 5 g glycine and 600 mg NAC each time, taken with meals. First week felt pretty much the same, no obvious shift in energy or sleep.

Around day ten I started waking up feeling a tad less groggy, and my mid‑afternoon slump seemed a bit softer. By week three my skin looked a touch brighter, especially around the cheeks, and I noticed fewer little breakouts that usually pop up when I’m stressed. Sleep quality felt a tad deeper, though I can’t say if it’s the supplement or just me winding down earlier with less screen time.

No major side effects, just occasional mild gurgling in the gut after the NAC dose, nothing that stuck around. I’m keeping it simple and will probably run another month to see if the effects level off or keep building. Would love to hear if anyone else tried a similar protocol and what they tracked – maybe bloodwork for glutathione levels next time?

  • fasted_scientist: Ngl I’ve messed around with glycine and NAC separately a while back – 3 g glycine twice a day and 600 mg NAC with breakfast. Didn’t notice much on energy or skin, just a bit of bloating after the NAC that faded after a week. Your skin brightening sounds interesting though; I’ve read a couple of small trials where glutathione precursors improved markers of oxidative stress, but nothing big on visible skin changes in healthy folks. If you’re keen to track it, a simple pre‑ and post‑blood glutathi
  • greg208: Yeah mate I tried a similar split – 2.5 g glycine twice and 300 mg NAC with each meal – and after about two weeks I did notice my skin looked a bit less dull, especially around the jawline, though the energy boost was pretty subtle for me. Bloating never really bothered me, but I reckon a pre‑post glutathione test would be the only way to tell if it’s moving the needle or just placebo vibes.
  • elle_z: I saw the brightening more on my cheeks, while you noticed it around the jawline – interesting how it shows up differently. I kept getting that mild gut gurgle after NAC, but no bloating. Have you thought about doing a glutathione test to check actual levels?
  • elle_z: The bloating is real leh, i had that gurgling too at first. Not sure why your energy didnt budge, maybe the glycine dose was too low? I felt a difference in my afternoon slump with the 5g doses. A blood test sounds steady but quite a hassle to arrange here.
  • fasted_scientist: Ngl I haven't bothered with a glutathione test – seems pricey and the change I saw was subtle enough to just put down to placebo or normal skin cycle. Cheek brightening matched mine too, jawline less so. Gut gurgle’s normal with NAC for me.
