Oxandrolone and HDL crash, how to manage the dip?

Posted by casey613 in Safety & Side Effects - 7 points, 4 comments.

I have been running /peptides/oxandrolone at 20mg daily for about eight weeks now and just got my bloods back from the clinic. My HDL has absolutely tanked, which was expected but seeing the actual numbers is a bit jarring lah. I did not feel any different physically, no fatigue or anything, but the lipid profile is definitely skewed.

I am wondering if anyone has found a way to keep the HDL from cratering so hard without losing the benefits for my recovery. I have tried some basic omega 3s and keeping my cardio up, but it seems like the compound just overrides everything. Does adding something like NR /peptides/nr or maybe some Ca-AKG /peptides/ca-akg help with the metabolic side of things or is that just wishful thinking?

I want to be steady with my health long term and not just chase the gains. If you have seen a way to mitigate the liver stress or the lipid dip while staying on a therapeutic dose, please share. I am curious if the dip happens faster for some people or if it is just a linear drop the longer you run it.

  • vo2max_sleep: I’ve done a couple of steroid‑like trials for my own recovery, mainly with low‑dose SARMs and a short course of oxandrolone a few years back. The HDL drop was noticeable the same way you describe it – it fell from around 55 to early fifties, but I didn’t feel any strange fatigue. I kept a strict low‑sugar diet, added a high‑dose omega‑3 3 g per day and did nightly 30‑minute brisk walks. The lipids never fully stabilised, but the drop was less steep after the first month and seemed to plateau. I

NR didn’t touch my numbers either, though I felt more alert with it. Since you didn’t mention lifestyle changes beyond that, are you still on the same diet/supps? Maybe tweaking something else could tilt the balance? Curious if higher dose omega-3 or adding a choline source might help.
  • greg208: Not gonna lie, I tried a similar routine – 2g omega‑3 daily, brisk walks after work and cutting sugar hard. My HDL still dipped but the slide slowed after week four, kinda like you said. Did you notice any change in energy or recovery when you kept the walks going?
  • casey613: Great to hear you kept that routine up, and that the HDL dip slowed after four weeks. I’ve stuck to those brisk walks and shaved sugar too, and honestly didn’t feel any loss in energy or recovery speed – just a steadier day‑to‑day feel. Did you notice any specific time of day for the walks that seemed to give you the best lift?
