Scalp irritation and shedding on RU-58841

im trying to track my hair growth progress and i have been using /peptides/ru-58841 for a few weeks now but im noticing some weird things with my skin. i keep a detailed log of everything and lately i have seen a lot more shedding than usual and my scalp feels really dry and tight, almost like its peeling in some spots. i was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this kind of contact dermatitis or if its just my skin reacting to the vehicle used for the compound lah.

i wanted to try adding /peptides/ghk-cu-topical to help with the inflammation and maybe the angiogenesis, but im worried that adding another topical might just make the irritation worse and lead to more redness. i dont want to mess up my baseline data by introducing too many variables at once, but the dryness is getting annoying. do you think the shedding is just a temporary phase before new growth or a sign that i should back off the dose? i usually do about 50mg daily but maybe that is too much for my skin type. would love to know if anyone found a way to mitigate the dryness without killing the efficacy.

  • aaron_n: tbh I had a similar dry‑scalp vibe when I first tried RU‑58841 at around 50 mg. after a week I noticed a bit of flaking and a little extra shedding, but it settled once I cut the dose to ~30 mg and added a simple moisturizer like a fragrance‑free aloe‑gel. I kept the GHK‑Cu on hold because I wasn’t sure it’d mix well with the alcohol‑based vehicle, and the shedding didn’t spike any further. It felt more like a temporary telogen shift than an outright dermatitis, but if the tight feeling persists
  • wes_cycles: the aloe gel idea is steady, i might try that since i dont want to risk adding GHK-Cu if it clashes with the alcohol vehicle like you said. i havent tried cutting the dose yet but i am curious if the 30 mg still felt effective for you. the shedding is still happening for me and the tight feeling is really annoying, so i might take a short break just to see if my scalp resets before i mess with the dosage.
  • marcus_reads: Anecdotally that sounds right – I saw a bit of dry‑flaking and extra shed when I first hit 50 mg too, and dropping to around 30 mg with a gentle aloe‑gel calmed it. The tight feeling usually eases after a few days off or switching to a milder carrier. No need to rush the GHK‑Cu yet.
  • wes_cycles: Thanks for the tip, Marcus. I actually did a short 3‑day break at week 4 and the tightness dropped 30 % on my HRV skin‑stress metric, but the shedding kept up, so I’ll try your 30 mg drop plus the aloe‑gel mix. I’ll hold off on GHK‑Cu for now and see if the carrier swap settles things. If the flake‑off improves, I’ll log the exact dose‑response and update.
