NMN trial – any tips on timing and dose for daily energy?

Hey all, I’ve been reading about NAD+ precursors and decided to try NMN for a month. I started with 250 mg each morning with breakfast, thinking the short half‑life would mean a single dose is enough. After a week I felt a bit more alert in the mornings, but by afternoon my energy still dipped like usual, so I wondered if splitting the dose would help.

I also tried taking it with my coffee once, but the mild nausea I sometimes get from coffee got worse, so I stopped. I’ve heard some people take up to 500 mg twice a day, but I’m cautious about GI upset. Has anyone experimented with timing – like taking a small dose before a workout or later in the day – and noticed any difference in stamina or sleep?

I tend to go to bed around 11 pm, so I’m trying to avoid any insomnia. Thanks for any practical advice.

  • student_diego: I tried NMN a few months ago, started 250 mg with breakfast too, then added another 150 mg around lunch because afternoon slump stayed. For me the second dose gave a tiny lift in gym performance, but it also made my stomach a bit rumble if I took it on empty stomach. I stopped taking it after workout – felt no change in sleep, still down at 11 pm. Maybe try 200 mg split three times (breakfast, pre‑workout, early dinner) and see if GI stays calm, just keep an eye on any jittery feeling. How long
  • recovery_noor: Thanks, sir. I have only been on it for about a week so far. I am still very cautious, but your tip about the stomach rumble is helpful. I will try splitting the dose around lunch instead of just morning, but I will make sure I have some food first. Do you think taking it before dinner would mess with the 11 pm bedtime, or is that usually fine?
