Thoughts on the TREK-1 pathway and PE 22-28?

I have been reading more about the TREK-1 potassium channel and this PE 22-28 peptide, /peptides/pe-22-28, which is derived from spadin. The idea that it could potentially trigger neurogenesis and synaptogenesis way faster than traditional SSRIs is honestly wild to me.

I am usually skeptical when things sound too good to be true, but the mechanism of blocking those potassium channels to boost serotonergic signaling seems like a really interesting angle for mood and brain health. It feels different from the usual stuff we see, and honestly, I think the neuroplasticity part is where the real promise is.

Still, it is all preclinical, which is the part that makes me hesitate. I have tried a few cognitive stacks and usually, the real world results are a lot more subtle than what the research papers claim. I wonder if the rapid effect they see in animals even translates to humans or if it just becomes another overhyped compound.

Does anyone here follow the TREK-1 research closely, or have you seen any human data that is not just anecdotal? I am curious if this is actually a breakthrough or just more noise.
