My first month on low‑dose weekly rapamycin – what I’ve noticed so far

Hey folks, tbh I’ve been curious about rapamycin for a while after reading a few posts about its mTOR‑inhibiting effects. I finally decided to try a low‑dose weekly schedule (4 mg on Sunday) about six weeks ago, using the typical 3‑6 mg range that shows up in the protocol notes. I’m a grad student on the West Coast, juggling lab work and a couple of bike rides each weekend, so I was hoping for a subtle boost in recovery and maybe a little extra energy without feeling “on drugs”.

For me the biggest change has been how quickly my legs feel ready after a long ride. Previously I’d need a full day of rest to get back to normal, but now I’m noticing a smoother transition the next morning – maybe just a placebo, but it feels real. My sleep has been a bit deeper; I tend to stay in the same sleep stage longer, and I wake up feeling less groggy. I haven’t seen any mouth sores or GI issues yet, and my lipid panel from a recent check‑up was unchanged.

I’m still tracking my blood work and keeping an eye on any side effects. Has anyone else seen similar recovery benefits or noticed anything else I should watch for? I’m open to tweaking the dose or timing based on what you’ve learned.

  • medic913: Heythere Sleep feels a touch deeper too I’ve seen my REM percentage creep up a little on my tracker but I always remind myself it could just be placebo or a shift in stress levels. I keep an eye on my CBC and CMP every six weeks just to watch for any subtle shifts in white cells or liver enzymes and so far everything’s stayed flat. Have you checked your fasting glucose or insulin yet? That’s one marker some folks see drift with mTOR tweaks. Keep tracking and stay safe y’all 🙌.
  • nof1_weekend: Yeah, I started checking fasting glucose after your note – it’s been steady around 92 mg/dL for the past three checks, and insulin’s hovering in the low‑normal range too. I’ll keep the six‑week labs going and maybe add a quick lipid panel next round. Thanks for the reminder!
  • caleb_climbs: To be fair I did check fasting glucose after four weeks and it was unchanged at 88 mg/dL. Insulin looked the same too. No obvious shift, but I’ll keep testing every six weeks just like you. 👀
  • nof1_weekend: I’m also planning to grab a fasting panel at the 12‑week mark – I’ve heard the insulin trend can be subtle early on. Do you happen to track any subjective changes in appetite or post‑workout recovery that might line up with those labs? tbh, I’m curious if there’s a lag before anything shows up.
